Know what you want in juicing
Over the past year, I've been trying to find that ""perfect juicer"". As of the time of this writing, I'd suggest, as another reviewer did, that, there is no perfect juicer. So, before you buy one, consider what you WANT in juicing.
Sur La Table has been EXCELLENT and gracious in accepting my returns, so, I owe them a sign of gratitude and thanks. They're clearly the best, when it comes to customer support. No one is better. Now, about the juicers.
The Breville is an excellent juicer. It's fast, it's easy to clean and it's durable. Why should you get this juicer? For hard things, like Apples, Carrots and Beets. It's blazingly fast at such items, and provides a decent yield. I returned it. Why? Apples, Carrot and Beets, though providing some nutrients, are mostly ""taste great"" sugars. I wanted more leafy greens (Kale, Parsley, Chard, Celery, Wheatgrass). All the Breville does with these is spin them fast and spit them out. There's very little yield on leafys.
Now, about the Omega Vert. So, does it do leafy greens? Yes. Does it do the sweet ones, like Apples, Carrots and Beets? Yes. It does them both decently well. So, why did I return this one? I'm sure if you're searched the internet, everyone seems to recommend this one as the best all around juicer, right? Well, it gets back to ""What do you want to juice""? When you juice leafy things, or fibrous things, this Omega Vert gets clogged because there is only a small outlet at the bottom. So, things like chard or celery get it really jammed up. Then, you're only real simple/fast solution, is to take the thing apart and clean it, and start over. YES, I did try cutting them into very small pieces, and it WILL work for a time, but, if you're doing a lot, it just gets frustrating. I do like this juicer a lot, and the intake is larger than most slow rpm juicers. But, again, WHAT do I want? I want leafy greens, and I want to extract the most from them. This isn't the ideal machine for that.
So, what did I settle on (for now)? The Omega Nutrition center commercial juicer. I've decided that it will provide the best yield from leafy greens, and when I want carrots, apples, and beets from sweetening, I can cut them smaller.
So, keep in mind. WHY are you juicing? For me, it's to condense the most FRESH nutritional value into 16 ounces of liquid that is easily consumed. I believe the OTHER Omega does a better job than this one.
Note that the Omega Vert is virtually identical ( I would think the two polycarbonate chambers might even fit on either machine, but I never was able to test this) in make to the Hurom, with one notable difference. Carrots stain WHITE a lot easier than they do BLACK. So consider what your chute and other parts will look like after a month of juicing. If you don't mind the color hue, then get the Hurom
