No variable speed control = limited functionality
I have owned and used a Vitamix for almost 13 years. I have a 5000 and a Pro 750, both of which have a variable speed control, which I consider an essential feature. .

The Vitamix is an expensive machine, and justifiably so. I am very happy with my Vitamix machines and can't imagine my kitchen without a Vitamix. I also cannot imagine sacrificing the functionality provided by the variable speed control, and settling for a two-speed model.

Great blender and more!
I have only had this about two weeks but I love it. It comes with three beautiful recipe books, which inspire me to have used the Vitamix everyday since it arrived. I haven't made the soups yet, but look forward to cooler weather for that!

Great Value!
Amazing blender!! Performance is outstanding. I've been researching offers and have not found a better deal than this anywhere. The most complete vitamix set out there.

Delighted Customer
I can add nothing to the list of commendations included here, and join their ranks with no caveat. In a field that is now crowded, including other blenders with their own enthusiastic fans, Vitamix remains the gold standard for quality, ease of use. and variable tasking.

My needs are relatively simple -- soups and smoothies, chiefly -- which the machine churns out with no complaint, and as a moderately skilled kitchen hand I have yet to miss any variable speed capability as mentioned in passing elsewhere.

In the best world, you always get what you pay for, and here that is definitely the case.

Only worth it if you get it on sale!
You definitely should splurge for the variable speed models if you are paying even close to full price, but if you get this on sale like I did, around $350, then it is worth every penny. Especially because it comes with two size blenders, which most do not. The smaller size is for dry blending nuts, seeds, and grains, but if you don't need that function much then you might as well use it for blending! That's what I do. I also pulse the on and off switch to get a pulsing response...because there is not variable speed or pulse button. By the way, the speed levels here should say HI and TURBO, because there is not low. It goes to high speed right away! Works beautifully like any vitamix, so it's a great product, but with less variability and control.
