You can spend less money and get junk from China which needs to be replaced regularly and over the course of several years spend as much as the Simplex... or....just suck it up and pay the $200, buy it once and not only have the best performing tea kettle, but also a classic look
DON'T DO IT!!!! (I couldn't give no stars. Really deserves straight negatives)
I'm a big fan of Martha Stewart. I used to watch Lucinda Scala Quinn (works with/for Martha) show on the Hallmark Channel who said she got this pot when she was married which was some 20 years ago. She claimed she used it regularly and it looked beautiful. Then Martha's wedding magazine also recommended this product. It's pricey and it took time for me to splurge. The color change on first use (the bottom turned green). Doesn't whistle and if you're not paying attention, the water will completely evaporate. Got it Friday, it was back in the store Monday.
I choose to buy this kettle for many reasons; it matches the style of my apartment ( antiques),I like the quality and styling of it, and it has very high rating among other customers.Plus, items made of copper last a lifetime.
I purchased two Simplex tea kettles, one in copper and the other in chrome. They are both excellent products, but the wooden handle on both of them have deteriorated and I'm wondering if that part might be available? Thank you for your assistance
Why does it matter if the stovetop is gas or other?

Best Answer:The holes at the bottom of this tea kettle are specifially designed to heat evenly using the open flame of a gas stove. This tea kettle would not heat evenly without the use of a gas stove.
