I have borrowed one like this from a friend and found that is the easiest and most efficient way to pit a bunch, I mean buckets of cherries in the least amount of time! Time I had my own!

My son has 2 cherry trees in his backyard and I love to make pies and jam from the produce. I hope this will be a great asset to the cause.

How does this work on tart pie cherries?
Susan M on Jun 20, 2015
Best Answer: I have only used mine on large ripe bing cherries. It pits most of them very well, but struggles to pass the larger cherries down the chute. And it does not remove the pits from every cherry-it leaves the pit in about 5%.
On the other hand it is very fast. I can do about 30-40 cherries a minute. That's important because we pit about 10 pounds and freeze them for winter consumption.
