Description

Stylish and simple, this garlic press not only makes a messy task easier, it also helps remove garlic odor from busy chefs’ hands. By using downward pressure and a rocking motion, press crushes cloves quickly and evenly, forcing the pieces up through the mesh of holes.

Crushed pieces are then held in the shallow bowl, allowing them to be spooned or scraped easily into a pan. And since stainless steel helps remove garlic odors, use press when you’re done to deodorize hands and fingers. All surfaces that come in contact with food are BPA free.

My mom bought this since she wanted to pitch her ancient garlic press. This is slick, stylish, relatively easy to clean and easy to use.

PRO:
Super sleek looking, presses garlic well.
Clean off garlic hand odor by rubbing hands against the press under warm water.
Dishwasher-safe.
(Pointless but...Nice packaging!)

CON:
You have to peel the garlic prior to pressing it.
Push through leftover garlic bits with toothpick prior to putting in dishwasher.
You have to press down rather hard for it to work

Nice solution
After many years of trying to find the right garlic press, I had given up and settled on an OXO press that was the best of a long line of bad presses. Typically, it is much easier for me to just mince the garlic with a knife, but, when mincing a lot of cloves, the ease of use of a press usually outweighs that of the knife.

After reading several of the reviews, I would have to disagree that it requires a lot of strength to use this. It made quick work of a dozen cloves, with just a small break to scrape the end product into a bowl.

It is tidy, quick and easy to clean

Converted me to a fresh garlic enthusiast
When I started cooking casually, I used the chopped garlic in a jar, for convenience-sake. As I started to cook more seriously, but under a time-frame, I still used chopped garlic in a jar. With the Joseph Joseph garlic rocker, I found I could peel and rock out my minced garlic, almost as quickly as I could scoop it out of a jar! This tool was well worth it for me, as it is sturdy, holds the garlic until I'm ready to add it, and utilizes my whole garlic clove - nothing wasted. It took a few rounds of practice for me to get used to it. Now, I won't go back to jar garlic or mincing it with a knife. It cleans quickly and easily with a soap brush, too

love it!
I cook with garlic several times a week and this is the best tool I've found for crushing garlic quickly. I love that it cleans easily and leaves no garlic odor on my hands. My new favorite!

Your not using this right if u don't like it!
Reading through these reviews... u need to ignore the output and just keep crushing and dumping and crushing the crushed pieces... a couple of times through, they will be getting crushed smaller than just the size of the holes... using a drop of oil in the garlic helps too... especially to get the pieces out of the holes when u r done... just lightly smack the tool on the cutting board and voila!!! I was disappointed at first but a friend who swears by his showed me the light

Beauty and function in one
In 55years of cooking this is the best garlic press I have ever used. If my 75 yr.old arthritic hands can press many cloves with no pain, you know it has to be easy to use! It's easy and quick to clean, too...just use running water and, maybe, a nail brush to help.
It's beautiful enough that it doesn't deserve to be hidden away in a drawer between uses

Don't like this item
Since this was a featured item in the store I figured it would be a great gadget for garlic. The holes are not sharp enough to press the garlic so I ended up with semi-squished garlic. Not good for anything. Unfortunately I don't have time to return it --will not buy from this brand again. Don't waste your money like I did.

Beautiful to look at...
Ah yes, my hopes were dashed again. This tool looks beautiful and you can hope that it works, but alas, it just doesn't cut the garlic. You have to peel the garlic, and rock with all your might; then half the garlic gets thrown out with the peel, and the rest is stuck in the holes, leaving very little for the sauce. A garlic press does a faster, cleaner job with less effort and less cleanup, so don't waste your money unless you just want to look at it, because it is gorgeous

Double Duty
I do a lot of cooking and I have a drawer full of Garlic press tools and this is my favorite. True- you do have to press the rocker down onto the garlic and rock it with some strength. But if you do, all or most of the garlic will go through - then scoop it out with a wooden spoon straight into the pan and rinse. I love that it does double duty & washing your hands with the stainless rocker will remove all smells of garlic on you. I have other devices that chop & slice but they seem to be messy to clean. I've read the other reviews from people who prefer something else but I love the simplicity & ease of this one

Remarkable gadget
This rocker crushes garlic into small perfectly formed pieces. This is the size you want for cooking for great taste and not overwhelming. Clean up is so easy and with the stainless steel you rub your fingers over it and garlic smell is gone. For the price and ease of using, it should be part of every cook's kitchen.
I gave them as stocking stuffers this Xmas.
I also have my own

Amber F on Nov 26, 2016
Gifts. I have one that is amazing for ginger and garlic. I slice narrow slices of ginger against the grain, and do two at a time. One needs a stiff brush to push the last one out completely from the rocker, but takes one second. Much faster than using a knife, and much better tasting than a press.

So, you do have to peel the garlic first
A shopper on Jan 30, 2012
BEST ANSWER: Stylish and simple, this garlic press not only makes a messy task easier, it also helps remove garlic odor from busy chefs’ hands.

Dishwasher safe.

The garlic does need to be peeled prior to using the rocker. We have several garlic peelers available and I have attached a few options for you.
How much garlic stays stuck in the press after using? I.E., is there a lot of waste with a normal-size clove?
Samantha P on Jun 19, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No. There isn't any waste. I find I need a toothpick to clean the garlic out one in a while though. I use it all the time.
Why would I want to use a product that requires getting a flat surface dirty, when my garlic press works in and of itself and I can just scrape off the pressed garlic? Trying to figure out why I need this.
karen S on Oct 16, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I found the Garlic Rocker to work better than my garlic press. My garlic press just smushed the garlic where the rocker cuts into small pieces which I prefer. I found it easier to use as I am getting older and don't have the strength in my hands that I once did to squeeze the garlic press.
What is the difference between the Garlic Rocker for $15 Garlic Crusher for $10?

BEST ANSWER: Stylish and simple, this garlic press not only makes a messy task easier, it also helps remove garlic odor from busy chefs’ hands. By using downward pressure and a rocking motion, press crushes cloves quickly and evenly, forcing the pieces up through the mesh of holes.

The difference between the Garlic Rocker and the Garlic Crusher is that the Rocker is made of one seamless piece of stainless steel while the crusher has a stainless steel center and colored plastic handles. The website does actually show a picture of a green crusher along side of the stainless steel rocker and I have submitted for that to be corrected.
Do you ship to Ontario and how much?
A shopper on May 5, 2015
BEST ANSWER: We do ship to Ontario, but you'll need to call us at 800 243 0852 to get a shipping charge quote & make arrangements for payment.
