Get these if you love poach eggs and get frustrated with making them for crowds. Spray them with a non-stick cooking spray for the best results! Feeling especially sinful? Add butter on top of the spray for sinfully delicious results!
I love these little things for a lot of reasons. First of all, they're so easy to use. I just put a little olive oil in the pod before the egg, and the egg slips out easily when it's done. Yet the pod is NOT so slippery that the egg falls out before you want it to, and ends up on the floor. It holds the egg in place until I run a butter knife around the edge of the cooked egg, and then it slides right out. To pull them out of the water, I use a a long fork (the kind you use to hold a roast in place while you carve it). I put one of the tines of the fork into one of the little holes in the pod and pull it out of the water. Then it's easy to hang the pod off the fork to drain any water that has collected in it. You could also use a large spoon to lift it out
Apart from that, they're inexpensive, weigh nothing, take up no room at all, and come in beautiful colors! Not only are they adorable, they're a pleasure to use, and one of the best gadgets I've ever bought
I have struggled with many methods of making poached eggs (swirling the water, vinegar or not, the list goes on and on...) and these give me perfectly cooked eggs, every. single. time.
I give them a little spray with PAM (learned the first time they are not non-stick), so the eggs slide right out, and then put them in together (all 4). About 4-5 minutes later, I've got eggs that have *just* the right amount of runny-ness and I couldnt be happier.
I just need a bigger pot and more egg cups so I can make breakfast for everyone at the same time
Best invention ever! Works perfect from the first time! Make sure you use cooking spray and follow the directions. Buy these for your friends - they will love you! Get the little spoon sold seperately - it is worth it! The egg pops right out in a perfect little sphere and the clean up is a breeze! Highly recommend!
I purchased a pair of these a few years back, and love them. A while back, I had a brief recuperation period following an illness and was relying on my husband for meals. I ordered two more poachers and the lifter on-line. Thanks to the great folks at Sur La Table, the products arrived much sooner than expected. It was so easy for my husband to use the poachers and serve me my favorite breakfast in bed. The lifter makes it so much easier and safer to place and remove the poachers from the scalding hot water. (I think my husband, who doesn't usually like eggs in any form but scrambled, is changing his opinion.
We use only these pods to poach eggs. I put a few drops of flavored olive oil in the pod then break the egg into the cup. Releasing the egg is easy and clean up is quick. I have given them to my daughter and they love them.

I have a very old 4-cup egg poacher. We always have to clean it and do eggs in shifts. I have heard that the Silicon cups are great, easily cleaned, and they will store much more compactly than the pan.

This is actually one pod for one egg. The photo is just showing that two come in a colored set.
Each pod holds one whole egg.I first break the egg into a separate container, like a measuring cup. Then place the empty pod into the lifter. While holding the lifter and pod in one hand, pour the broken egg into the pod and ease the pod (holding the lifter) into the simmering water. Once the pod is floating, just lower the lifter and pull away from pod.You could set the pod on the counter, break the egg into it, and hold the pod by the tabs while you set it down in the simmering water. If you choose to do it that way, please be careful not to drop the pod and scald yourself with the splash of water. I suggest using the lifter
