nonscratch steamer
Really like this steamer. When I use this in my jumbo saute pan, I need to take the green cap off the handle as I can't get the cover on the pan if I don't . Otherwise it's great for longer veggies like asparagus. Fits great in deep pans too. Love it

Green Joseph Joseph Steamer
I own the green-colored one. I use it in my non-stick 6 quart pot from Jamie Oliver Foundation. I use a cup of water to steam frozen or raw vegetables. It's never melted. Of course, I don't really let the pot go for a very long time at a hard boil. I lower the heat to medium and steam for about 10 minutes. I like that it doesn't scratch my nonstick pans. That's the only way I use it. In a stainless steel pan or pot I use a stainless steel steamer. I only handwash by hand bc it doesn't have grease or fat on it since I only use it to steam vegetables. I was glad I found this and don't regret the purchase

melted mess
I used it once without incident. Second time I had to expand it as I was making more food...melted in to my sauce pan. Don't waste your money, happy I kept my old stainless steel one

Don't!
I received this steamer as a Christmas gift and it melted the first time I used it. Fortunately the melted goo came off my saucepan but I did discard the food I was steaming which was expensive and inconvenient.

I'm hoping that this steamer works better than my metal one from Target--actually, the metal one works, but ALWAYS comes apart because the 'leaves' slip past one another when I'm washing it and I have to 're-stack' them. I'm hoping that this one will be easier to clean!

i burned the bottom out of the big pot my metal steamer fits into ---- need something smaller, and hope this puppy doesn't melt on me

I love my metal steamer but need silicone. The silicone one I have does not hold a shape. This one looks like my metal one - can't wait to try.

How safe is this in stovetop use?

I like the idea of a non-metal steamer that will not scratch the interior of my cookware, but I wonder if it will hold up in the heat of cooking
A shopper on Apr 16, 2012
BEST ANSWER: The Joseph Joseph Steamer will hold great under normal cooking conditions. Just make sure that you are steaming on a medium heat and not high and there should be no problems. I have one myself at home and it does work great for everything from broccoli, carrots and cauliflour to asparagus
