There's nothing ""innovative"" about this as advertised. I found that about 70% of the items grated fall into the storage. The remaining still pieces fall outside and you'll have to scoop them up and put it back into storage or another container just as you would with any other grater. So I can't really recommend this to anyone since it's not any different or better than other graters
Cons: The bowls and grating surface are smaller than expected. As with the old fashioned manual flat graters, you can grate your fingertips if you're not careful. Not good for large batch grating needs, better to use a food processor or crank style grater. No lid for storage of bowl other than graters which let in air.
Pros: The grating surface is very sharp and grates well. Good for small batch grating needs
The concept is good and the three grating plates perform well but the container cracked after I've only used it for a few weeks! I did not drop it or bang it on anything but the bottom started cracking, it started out with one crack and now there are two! Will definitely not buy this again
I was so excited to get this, as the interchangeable graters and the measuring ability seemed like a great idea. I still think they are a great idea, but...this is not easy to use without literally slicing the tips of your fingers off. You can't get the grater-tops off the bottom without using a knife or something to pry them off...unless you want to grate off the tips of your fingers. You can't grate anything all the way because as you get close to the end (of a carrot, a hunk of cheese...) and your fingers get closer, you will grate off the tips of your fingers. Additionally, event though there appears to be non-skid on the bottom of the container, it doesn't really work so in order to hold onto the thing and grate at the same time, your hands are in a unergonomic position, and you guessed it! You grate off the tips of your fingers. I honestly thing you could use this thing as a weapon and I plan on returning it
I found this device to work extremely well for small grating operations. It can't be beat for zesting oranges, lemons, and limes. Need some grated carrot for a salad? Making 1 or 2 potato pancakes or hash browns? This is the device for you. Quick, neat, and easy to clean. All shredded material is conveniently caught in a small bowl for use.
I've used other handheld graters and have found them to be clumsy, hard to clean, and grated material flung all over the place. Not so with this device. Everything is caught in the attached bowl. To clean, simply rinse off. No hidden corners.
Be aware:ALL handheld graters are potentially a finger shredder. Large jobs are best done with a food processor. BUT, with a little common sense and precaution one can safely use this devise without a care. For the less dexterous among us, wear cut-resistant gloves. The blades are SHARP.
Note: The grates are 1/8, 1/4, and 3/8 inch. If you want a finer grate, for say garlic, you'll need a separate grater
