This is great for smooth batters, anything too thick and it would struggle. Very sturdy metal handle. I am not a fan of electric hand mixers unless absolutely necessary and this whisk makes some jobs much easier! And I got it on sale...BONUS
This batter whisk is the first thing I ever bought at SLT. I was already a fan of silicone cooking utensils, but I had never seen anything like this before. And it is truly great. Just as the chef in the accompanying video says, this is the tool to use when you want to incorporate air into your mixture. When I make pancake batter, I reach for this. Minor complaint: the design that is so good for the intended function also makes the batter cling in hard-to-get-at places. Your index finger will get a workout trying to get every last bit of batter. So worth it, though. A
This whisk does a good job for mixing batters and scraping the bowl. Used for pancakes with great delight! We'll see how it does with thicker batters. I think this will also be good for cooking custards on the stovetop as they thicken.
I have tried to use this a few times - doesn't seem to be appropriate for many of the batters I make (quick breads) - I prefer danish dough whisk, wooden spoon or a spatula to this whisk. When I have tried it, the batter gets all clogged up in the whisk - hard to clean. I do like that it is heat resistant
Bought these for my daughter and daughter-in-law in colors to match their kitchens. Liked it so much I bought one for myself in purple. It works great for making pancakes and brownies. Clean up is very easy-just run it under hot water.
I recently moved overseas and left most of my kitchen tools in storage. This whisk is one of the few things that I regretted not bringing with me, so much so that I re-bought one.
This is the rare gadget that works in a new way, that you don't realize you needed, but you do. When you need to mix something with a whisk, but it's too heavy for a wire whisk, this is the tool to reach for. Brownie batter, cooked pudding, muffin batter, toppings and spreads... The design even lets you use it for some limited mashing action, though I wouldn't use it to mash potatoes.

I purchased one of these several months ago and like another reviewer said it is the tool you never though you needed until you use it. It makes mixing batters so effortlessly in no time. No need to whip out a hand mixer. I absolutely love it so much I bought another one for my sister and one just because, I only wish it still came in all the other colors.
Do you hold it like a spoon or wisk? Or do you use it like the Mexican chocolate beaters (holding your hands palm together with the beater handle between them (perpendicular to your arm and hands). As you rub your hands back and forth rapidly the beater spins. [This is much easier to demonstrate than to explain in words!]

Best Answer:Although both methods of use are prefectly acceptable, I suggest you use it like a mixing spoon, so that you are better able to make use of the scraping edge on the mixer
Sturdy Whisk for all jobs? Safe for non-stick pans?
I'm looking at a silicone-whisk that is suitable for ALL jobs like for gravies, batters, egg whites. I want it to be SAFE enough to use in nonstick pans and last long without the problem of silicone peeling off or handle coming off. WILL this whisk satisfy all my needs ?

Best Answer:No one whisk can do all the jobs you require. You need a set of whisks. Silicone whisks are not as durable as stainless steel whisks and will wear out if you are doing a lot of whisking. Silicone whisks are less expensive than stainless steel whisks - so unless you want to get rid of your nonstick pans and upgrade to stainless steel pans - you're probably going to have to live with routinely replacing your silicone whisks.
Speaking from experience, I can tell you that this is a very sturdy whisk. I've had one for quite sometime now and I'm very pleased with it. I use it for cake mix and omelettes mostly, But I also like to use it to push onions around in my skillet (which is a nonstick Scanpan) while sauteing. It's very versatile. I use mine every other day on average and I've never had a problem with it separating from the handle or peeling
I think it would answer all of the needs you listed, except egg whites. The blades of the whisk are fairly wide and somewhat thick. I doubt it would whisk egg whites easily. And you know how silicone holds onto grease a little bit, even when it's been washed well. That would keep it from beating egg whites successfully. But I do think that it is great for gravies and batters, even in nonstick pans. It's also very durable and would be very unlikely to lose the silicone
