Get the 4.5 inch utility knife instead
I finally upgraded my knife set to Wusthof Classic which I should have done a while ago. If makes a huge difference especially when one cooks as much as I do for my family. I originally bought the 7 piece set which include the 3.5 paring knife, 6 inch utility knife, bread knife and 8"" chef knife with knife block and kitchen shear. I felt that the 3.5 inch paring knife was very good but for some jobs it was a little to short so I went and bought a 4 inch paring knife. This was a mistake because it didn't make a big enough difference. I went back to trade it in for a 4.5 inch utility knife and this is now my favorite knife. It is both a good paring knife and a utility knife so one doesn't have to dirty up two knives when you are peeling a big fruit or vegetable and then have to cut through it. I think it is worth still having 3.5 inch paring knife but also get the 4.5 utility knife. I would also get the 5 inch boning knife, deli knife and 7 inch nakiri. Deli knife is great for cutting/slicing cooked meat and Nakiri is great for chopping and slicing vegetables, fruits, and raw meat. I hope this review is helpful for someone looking to add or start their knife collection as I did a lot of research. Also personally for me I prefer the Wusthof Classic over the Classic Ikon. I felt the balance was better despite the ergonomic handle of Ikon

This is a gift. I have been using these knives myself for over 30 years. They last forever, if you hand wash them every time and sharpen them. I store mine in a wooden knife drawer. Don't let anyone use them as box cutters or as a tool. They are only for the Chef in the house.
