"The Coolest Product, It Works!"
We have all had the problem of boil over starchy foods. My family is always putting too much pasta in too small of a pan, so I thought I would give this a try. WOW, it works just like they advertise. And, because it is silicone, it just cleans up easily, no mess

It truly works. Buy it! Worth every penny.
I love the Kuhn-Rikon ""Cook Flower"" Spillstopper so much I have now given upwards of two dozen away as hostess gifts. They're great gifts because (1) they work great, (2) not everyone has one yet, (3) everyone should, and (4) they're just expensive enough that most people balk at them for an impulse buy. I'm here to say, ""give in to your impulse and buy one"" or buy four - both sizes for you, one for mom and one for your best friend who will then buy one for their mom. Or for their teenage boy who eats so much pasta.

Here's why:
- Prevents pasta, rice, quinoa, oatmeal, rice-a-roni, and more from boiling over, even if cooked at a roiling boil. Invaluable for those of us with short attention spans cooking anything that boils or boils then simmers.
- Can cook in a smaller pot with less water, which isn't as heavy to carry
- skims scum off your stock (truly!)
- use a small one in a large pot to submerge corn and artichokes, or any other floating thing you try to boil, with or without the petals in place
- put on the pan of ""leftovers"" while you're eating, it will keep the food warm but let some steam escape so the food isn't soggy when you go for seconds or need to box it up.
- works as a steamer lid
- works a a generic lid that can be lifted with bare hands (use both hands to tilt up away from face to avoid steaming either hands or face)
- my mom claims it's also good in the microwave but so far I've just used it stovetop.
- The flower petals make it easy to get a quick peek at how food is progressing without dripping condensed water all over the stove or letting out all the heat. You can also pop in some seasoning if you kinda forgot to earlier, like you would never, ever do...
- With precautions to not steam yourself or heat the spoon unduly, it can be used as a spoon rest after stirring the food partway through cooking.

The spill stopper is so wonderful it probably also cures cancer. I've had mine over a year and use it all the time. It's my favorite kitchen invention by far and worth every penny

It works.... No more overboils
It does work well as advertised. I've had no overboils while heating milk, boiling pasta, etc. The quality of material is top notch. My complaint is that after it overboils and the liquid collects on top of the lid, its not easy to lift and move the lid to the sink without spilling the liquid on top of the lid. That's because the surface of the lid is not firm and because it's flexible silicone, the boiled over liquid moves around and spills when you remove the lid

Back to purchase more!
I initially purchased this for myself. We make grits and oatmeal most every day and no matter how I prepared them, they always managed to spill over the pan and make a mess of the stainless steel gas stove top. it has not happened once since using the pot topper. I love, love , love this pot topper. In fact, I purchased 3 more for our daughter in laws as a Christmas gift

Brilliant!
I begged my Mom to try this (I gave her one for Christmas). After she did finally try it, it has become a staple on her cooktop halon stove.

I use a gas stove, and turn it on high, and forget it for items like pasta. I love it.

It's become a favorite gift

Can you use this in the microwave? How long?
A shopper on Sep 21, 2011
Best Answer: This item is microwave safe and can withstand heat up to 400 degrees F in the microwave or on the stove. It is advised to still take extra precaution and use potholders when removing the lid as to avoid coming into contact with the steam.

I just got this two days ago and decided to cook pasta and it still spilled over.....ugh! Did I have it under too strong of heat? What did I do wrong?
A shopper on Nov 26, 2014
Best Answer: I did that once when I used a smaller pot and it was too full. The other time that I had trouble was when I used it over a sauce pan and the spill stopper was resting on the handle, causing it to gap and leak under it. I remedied the problem by rotating and shifting it so that all edges touch the pan and I have not had a problem since.
I since bought the little one, about 8" in diameter and use that for small pans now.
