Great New KitchenAid Attachment!
Just got the new KitchenAid Spiralizer attachment as a gift. It's amazing - easy to use, easy to clean. I couldn't believe how well it pealed, cored, and sliced apples. Made fantastic zucchini noodles. Comes with 5 blades and the storage box is so well designed. I just hope they come out with even more blades - an angel hair one would be terrific.

Great addition!
Kitchenaid spiralizer is easy to use & clean up is a breeze. I had gotten a manual spiralizer but used it infrequently because of work involved in prepping food and clean up after. Although the cost is more than twice the price of a manual spiralizer, it is well worth it. "Hard" vegetables like beets are quickly and easily spiraled. Made a beet and chicken salad with dill yogurt sauce last night that was delicious and quick.

super easy and fast
I saw a demo in the store and had to have it. Then bought another as a gift for mom. The attachments are easy to use and clean. Made zucchini noodles, hash browns and sliced potatoes. Prior to this I had a plastic crank spiralizer. it was not easy to use.

It's great!
We've had this tool for two weeks now. So far we've used this for zucchini, yellow summer squash, Yukon Gold potatoes, and yams. It worked great on all of them, with a few demerits: the peeling tool doesn't move in to peel slimmer veg like the yams (the squashes we left the peels on). The tool can't handle much irregularity at all, so those same yams needed to be cut down into segments to avoid curves. It worked, but increased the waste (well, we saved the end nubs for other dishes, but waste in that we couldn't spiralize more of our yams than we would have liked). That said, it's easy to assemble, disassemble, and clean. I look forward to trying more vegetables in it! I had been hesitating to buy a spiralizer because I kept reading about plastic units cracking -- this metal tool is bound to last a long time.

Fast and easy!
I bought this after using a hand spiralizing tool. I loved spiralized veggies, but hated how long it took and how much strain it put on my wrist. This tool is amazing! So fast and so easy to use. I've used it on apples and zucchini so far and am looking forward to trying new items. I highly recommend it!

Wow!! Amazingly fast and easy to use.
Been looking at spiralizers but did not want a manual one. This one is great!! Used it for apples for a pie - so fast, and all peelings were neatly deposited into the bowl below it. Looking forward to doing much more with it.
Definitely worth the price. The box it came in is good for storing the parts.
My KitchenAid mixer is really the work horse of my kitchen.

Great Buy
Got this about 2 weeks ago, made curly fries and zucchini, then made zucchini and pears. Both were great, surprised how filling the meals were, hope to lose a few pounds..

A great add-on for your mixer
Rather than purchase a separate plastic spiralizer device, get more use out of your mixer with this metal attachment. Like your mixer, it's built to last and easy to use. There are some recipes on the KitchenAid site to get you started. Things work best if you follow the recipes and use the recommended vegetables. The only problem that I have experienced was when I tried to shred a hard white onion. The device had a hard time with it. If I had used a vidalia onion as the recipe called for, I would not have had a problem. I'm using it more than I thought I would and it's fun to use. I totally recommend it.

So easy even hubby....
can use it!

Hubby has more problems with gadgets than anyone I've ever known. He was able to figure it out right from the start.

We both love how KitchenAid sets up their shipping/storage container for the spiralizer so there is a place for everything!

Can this peel a butternut squash? My hand crank rotating peeler for potatoes can't handle it. The little blade just pops off after getting stuck.
ROBERT on May 26, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I haven't had much luck with this attachment, it usually mangles my veggies, so I'm selling it at my yard sale..
Will it work on all KitchenAid Mixers?
A shopper on May 26, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes, this attachment works with all KitchenAid mixers.
My current hand crank spiralizer has an "angel hair" size slicer I use for zucchini noodles. Is that size slicer available with this attachment?
Kathy B on May 28, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Called Sur La Table and was told there is no angel hair size blade. It is more of a spaghetti size. Called Kitchenaid and was told there is no current information regarding an angel hair blade. I'm hopeful they will eventually add this as an optional blade in the future.
It says five blades but only shows four in the video. Is the fifth blade a spiral slice blade with smaller core that will allow for a skewer to be inserted in a vegetable to hold the vegetable after slicing, as in making tornado fry's?
Craig S on May 26, 2015
BEST ANSWER: There are 2 spiralizing blades and 2 ribbon blades. The 5th blade is for peeling.
Will this peel and spiralize sweet potatoes?
Charlene M on May 30, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it will.
The pictures show the apple with the spirals, but the peel is on. Can you peel and spiral at the same time or are they separate actions?
Carol M on May 26, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes! And they came out perfect.
can you peel only? (to JUST peel apples)
jason o on Jul 22, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes, you can just peel, it has a different blade for that purpose. It does an amazing job of spiralizing. Very sturdy.
can you "dial" in the size of your cuts? one answer here said the spiralized slices are 1/4" thick!? can you make them very thin, like a mandolin?
jason o on Jul 22, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Jason there are different size blades but you can't "dial" in a thickness like on a mandolin. We've used the large and medium blade so far. There is a video I suggest you watch on their website. Hope this helps.
is it sold at Sur la Table stores so I can see it in person?
Susan S on May 29, 2015
BEST ANSWER: When they are demonstrating it. Ck with ur local store.
Will the spiralizer attachment peel jicama? Spiralize it?
A shopper on Oct 23, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I've never tried it but it seems like it would. I've noticed that Sur la Table is starting to do in store demonstrations. If you have a store nearby I would buy a Jicama and take it there to try it out.
Can this spiralizer attachment only be used with whole fruits and vegetables? For example, if I cut a giant zucchini into large spears, would it be able to create noodles out of these more rectangle-like pieces? Or will it only work on small whole round vegetables?
A shopper on Jun 25, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It should work to an extent. It cuts/peels potatoes which is irregular. Corners may break the noodles from being longer but if you use it at a slower speed setting, it may not. Fyi, the attachment does have a size limit given the way the blades attach... I think if the fruit/veg is less than half a foot and about 4 inches in diameter, it will fit the attachment. I've had to cut squashes down to get them to fit.
hope that helps in some way.
I love this, but I've tried with both potatoes and apples and they stopped turning about 1/4 of the way from the end. What am I doing wrong? If this is normal, it seems like a bit of waste.
Denise A on Sep 13, 2015
BEST ANSWER: As you get towards the end, the end that is attached to the spiralizer might give to the teeth rotating it. I just save left over ends, dice them up and add them to prepared low salt vegetable stock for an easy all veggie soup.
Can it peel only an apple, or does it spiral too? I hate peeling apples for pies.
A shopper on Aug 29, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes it has an attachment that will peel, core and slice the apples. The slices are probably 1/8" thick. I believe you can just leave the slicer section off the attachment to just peel and core. When I make apple pie filling I like really large wedges versus slices so I would want to manually cut them to my specifications.
Does this spiral Pineapples ????
Vernithia B on Oct 16, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Thinking that wouldn't work very well. I have used this with apples, zucchini, sweet potatoes, russet potatoes, carrots, beets, pears...well, you get the point. The firmer fruits and vegetables work. Thinking pineapple is a bit fibery to use with the spiralizer. That said - I use mine a lot and am thrilled that I bought it. It's my favorite KitchenAid attachment.
Is this product the spiral slicer sold in any other store anywhere? I checked stores and I'm no where near any of them. I live in California not too far from Yosemite so there you are.
Donna B on Oct 18, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Most stores do not carry the full range of attachments. However, they are availabke on-line at many retailers such as Sur la Table, Bed Bath and Beyond, Target, Macys, etc. I ordered mine from Sur a table and shipping was free.
I own a tilt head mixer. I had a meat grinder attachment. I would like the spializer..will it adapt to my 38 yr old kitchenaid?
Diane S on Nov 24, 2015
BEST ANSWER: If the meat grinder works the spiralizer should too.
Does the spiralizer work on all Kitchen Aid models?
Louise R on Sep 27, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It attaches at the power hub and is secured w/ the screw, just like the meat grinder, or the the pasta rollers, so yes. You are going to absolutely love this attachment! The main rail cannot be emersed in water or survive the dishwasher, because there are moving gears inside. Just wipe it clean. The peeler, skewer, and cutting blades are all dw top rack safe. Very easy to use, lots of uses, one of the best attachments, peels and slices apples , makes vegetable spaghetti like you've never experienced. A must have!
Has anyone used this to peel butternut squash as shown in the video? I cannot get it to work for that. For everything else it seems great.
jill F on Aug 31, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I've never tried butternut squash, but I have found that the most important factor in spiralizing is the size of the vegetable. I even cut my zucchini in half for a better result. Try cutting the butternut squash into smaller pieces.
How does it do on pears for making relish or preserves?
Jeff M on Aug 2, 2016
BEST ANSWER: My tree has the hard pears. It does a wonderful job of peeling them. Well worth every dollar I spent. You can
zip through a bucket of pears in no time.
Is this the only spiral attachment or are there more?
A shopper on Jun 16, 2016
BEST ANSWER: There are different sized spiralizer attachments and also a blade that peels the fruit/vegetable. The instructions should help you. You might also want to look up a video that demonstrates how it works. Once you get the gist, you will love it...saves so much time and effort.
I don't have a lot of strength. How hard is it to attach items like apples or potatoes to the skewer?
A shopper on Aug 14, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I have learned that you can attach the skewer to the item before attaching it to the Kitchen Aid. Then it doesn't require as much strength or rather, you aren't attempting to skew something in an awkward position. This works with some things but may not work with all. Apples and potatoes should be fine.
I have an older KitchenAid mixer Model K45SS. Will this attachment work on my mixer?.
A shopper on Nov 29, 2015
BEST ANSWER: If you have the accessory port on top, it will work. Mine is from the 1970's and works (K45 when the were still made by Hobart).
Once you spiraling veggies do you cook them?
Diane S on May 29, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Depends on the vegetable. Some hard ones (e.g., sweet potatoes) Are better cooked, while softer ones (e.g., zucchini) work either way. I've used zucchini and carrots both raw and cooked but zucchini needs to have moisture removed befor cooking or it gets too limp. There are a lot of websites with good recipes and the kitchenaid website has a PDFs file with a lot of good recipes in it
Can it peel potatoes?
A shopper on Dec 13, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Actually, that's a very funny question (to me). Because last night I used mine on some potatoes. It worked, but, it was a little awkward. Mostly since potatoes are irregular in shape (even with flattening the bottom of the spud). However, it did work and we had some lovely scalloped potatoes.
Can you spiralize celery root with this attachment?
A shopper on Dec 8, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I have not tried it but celery itself cannot be used. Too stringy. Hope this helps
I had no problem with apples. I tried to spiralize a peeled beet and it wouldn't do it. It started to bend the spiralizer blade. What am I doing wrong?
A shopper on Jan 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I would recommend watching the "How to Use Your KitchenAid Spiralizer Attachment" video we have posted on the product page.
This is the four blade attachment. Do you have the six blade on sale?
Elaine K on Jul 7, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes. It's called the plus.
Will the spiralizer peel jicama? Spiralize it?
Maryellen T on Oct 23, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it will.
What part is aluminum and what part is stainless steel? What part touches the food?
