Very Versatile, All Purpose Piece
Already a loyal Staub customer, it was great to finally have a piece that had a domed lid, the first I have seen to have the dimples that redistribute moisture and keep what you are cooking from drying out.. I have used this piece to braise chicken, make soup, and to make chili. It really cooks everything evenly, and the curved bottom makes scooping out of the bottom very easy. This is now my favorite piece in my cookware arsenal.

Great piece!
In love with my new Staub piece in white. Perfect capacity for me to cook with and I love the domed lid! I already have a 4qt. but had to have this unique shape as a part of my Staub collection!

Great quality for the price
A great price and practical size for a beautiful cast iron piece.
I bought it in Graphite as that is the color I'm collecting.
Love the rich colors offered in this brand.

Browns great!
This is my new favorite kitchen item. The first dish I made was chili; the bottom of the pan browned the beef perfectly and the chili came out thick, stewed, and so flavorful.

This pan fits on my electric stove well, doesn't tip on the coils, and is easy to move from stove to oven (hint: open oven door before picking up pan). It also looks great, so I can take it from the oven to the table.

I let my mom borrow it and I don't think she will be giving it back. I will definitely be buying another!

really beautiful pot
This was a Mother's Day gift, here's what she just wrote me:
I do want to say thank you again for the white pot. It is perfect, and even though I have, so far, only used it twice, it is just right. So Thank you for my pot.
Much love from, Mom

It is an A+!
I have several Le Creuset French ovens...and...I could not resist this offer. I am very satisfied with the Staub 3.75 qt. oven. Love the black interior. It cooks wonderfully and the cleanup is a snap. I heartily recommend this product. It is so worth the investment. i purchased it in white and it's gorgeous.

Great purchase - beauty and function combined
So happy with this purchase! Love the newer shape, and the pine color is to die for. I fell in love with the color last year, and my pleasure in the color just grows every day. Knowing now that is it hand-applied in three coats is just amazing - another aspect of old world craftsmanship.

For cooking - nothing beats Staub. It is easy to care for, I swear the texture of the black interior adds to the flavor, and I love the spikes and chistera in the lids.

The shape of this pot makes stirring easier so ingredients blend faster. The quality is tops - the lid fits tight to the pot, as do all Staub lids; the pot sits firmly on my induction cooktop; and clean up is easy. The black interior shines like new after each washing.

I keep seeing more of these pots in my future. They will look great intermingled with my other Staub cookware - different sizes, shapes, and colors.

Thanks, Staub and SLT, for adding beauty and function to my cooking. Any chance the petite cooker will be offered in pine - hint, hint?

I make a lot of soups and stews especially in the fall and winter. Staub has become my favorite cookware for braising and stewing. Made a coq au vin which was my grandfather's favorite dish. When we sat down to dinner, all of us moaned with our first bites--it was so tender and flavorful. I have made this in other pans and it did not compare. I am sold on the lid design and quality construction of this cookware. Thanks SLT for carrying this superior cookware.

Staub makes amazing cast iron cookware. I love cooking with cast iron. I started out with LeCreuset and after trying Staub I actually like it a little better. Staub cast iron cookware cooks so consistently and is just so easy to clean up. Staub also seems less prone to getting food overcooked at the bottom of the pan. Staub's quality is just amazing and this sale price is an amazing deal on the cookware that I couldn't pass up.

I have several other Staub cocottes in larger sizes, and now that we're empty nesters this smaller size will be perfect. I love the quality and style of Staub, and they're great for everything from stope top to oven, roasting, braising, stewing or frying - these cocottes do it all beautifully.
Susan H on Oct 6, 2016

I bought this for my wife - so here is HER response:
The main reason I wanted this was to use with an artisan bread recipe I saw on facebook. I made the bread without out the use of the cast iron and it was good...but the cast iron made it GREAT! I wish I could post a picture of the final product.

I just received this in white. I did notice that the inside of the pot is lightly speckled with white. I own several Staub pots and they all are perfectly matte black inside. Has anyone noticed this with their white Staub pieces? Am a little concerned about food safety.
Elizabeth V on Feb 12, 2016
How does this differ from the regular Staub round cocotte--I mean more functionality than size? Thanks!
A shopper on Jan 18, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It doesn't differ as far as functionality goes. It only differs by size & shape.
Do you know the dimensions of the interior flat cooking surface and exterior bottom where it contacts the burner? Thanks!
A shopper on Jan 24, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The interior flat surface is 7 inches. The exterior base where it contacts the burner is also 7 inches.
The original design was touted as spikes helped basting that differentiated from La Cruset. This design is very similar to La Cruset. Tell us one reason consumer should buy this product instead of La Cruset beside price difference?
Note I own only Staub with many kind of pots. I am a fan of Staub but like La Cruset as well.
A shopper on Feb 11, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I also have La Cruset but had had a problem with food sticking on the bottom of the pans and also with the product being a nightmare to clean to my satisfaction. Love the Staub with no problem to clean...plus I love, love the white color which matches my white cooktop!
Will the Staub 10" stainless steel steamer insert fit in this pot? It looks like it might but wondering if anyone knows for sure. The steamer fits for sure the 5.5 cocotte and also the 4 wide.
Sarah H on Feb 17, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No, it will not. I just got the 4 qt essential oven and a 5.5 qt cocotte, and the Staub stainless steel steamer will only fit in the 5.5 qt cocotte.
is the the quality of materials and composition exactly the same as the regular staub round cocotte?
Lisa on Jan 21, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it is.
Is the marin color different from sapphire blue?which one is deeper?
A shopper on Mar 11, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Marin is deeper. Sapphire is more of a bright blue.
Does this Staub oven have the basting spikes on the lid interiors like the Staub round cocottes?
ANNE S on Feb 5, 2016
BEST ANSWER: There are no basting 'spikes.' However, there are raised markings on the lid interior that are shaped like elongated j's that would serve a similar purpose. The j's are in placed in a swirled radiating pattern.
How wide is the bottom diameter?
A shopper on Feb 15, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The outside diameter at the bottom is a bit under 7 inches (six and seven eighths). The outside diameter increases rapidly so that about an inch above the base it is eight and a half inches. The outside diameter at the top is nine and three quarters inches, excluding the handles. The lid is just over ten inches in diameter.
Can bread be baked in it?
A shopper on Jun 15, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, I have baked bread in it and it works wonderfully. I just put the dough on parchment and put the parchment right into the pan. I baked it covered for 15 minutes and then removed the cover for 15 minutes. The pan conducts heat very well, so make sure it's not too close to the bottom heat source in your oven or the bottom of the bread will be too well done.
My friend bought a White color pot, when get the stock reliable that there is the white dot on the inner surface, is that normal?
A shopper on Aug 13, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I'm not exactly sure what white dot is that you are talking about. The inside of the pot should be a smooth, but not shiny, black enameled surface. If there is a defect in the surface you should return the pot to Sur La Table. If you can take the pot to a local store and show them the "dot" and they can evaluate it for you. That's the best thing I can think of to do.
Just bought this and it's my 1st cast iron pan so please tell me the best way to clean it?
A shopper on Nov 1, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Staub recommends to let your cookware cool down before cleaning it. You can use warm water, liquid dish soap and a soft sponge or brush. Do not use metal brushes or scouring pads as this can damage the enamel. Make sure to dry completely to prevent water spots or light spot rusting. If light spot rusting occurs you can remove the spot by scrubbing with baking soda, then rub a little bit of cooking oil on the spot. Although your Staub Essential Oven is dishwasher safe, Staub does recommend hand washing as a general rule.
Can you use these cast iron pots to deep fry?
A shopper on Sep 3, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, cast iron takes a little longer to heat up, but it hold heat better once hot. Just use a deep fry thermometer. Also, make sure to always have Bon Ami on hand. It is inexpensive and at grocery stores, but it will help keep the black interior looking new, if you care about such things.
Does the enamel interior have any toxic chemicals?
A shopper on Oct 6, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No, the enamel is toxin free and food-safe.
Any chance you will have this in pine?
Holly D on Jan 29, 2016
BEST ANSWER: At some point we might, but Pine is a limited edition color, so it isn't very likely.
