Space saving square
As another reviewer stated, the shape works so much better for stacking items in your cupboard or pantry. It also means it fits better into corners or against walls. I love the small size for storing brown sugar on the kitchen counter for tea and coffee. The fact that it's square also gives it a slightly unique aesthetic. But most importantly it is air tight so my items stay fresh

Durable glass air-tight storage!
A little expensive but, I enjoy using these jars for storage & leftovers. As others have stated, the square shape fits well into the corners of the refrigerator and cabinets and they stack ok (this feature could be a little more stable). Also, the rings rust after the first washing, however, that is not a big concern of mine as it gives them a vintage look

Can't get enough!
I bought two, then immediately bought eight more! I store everything in glass jars, and these are SOOOOO much better than the round type. I keep them in the pantry and the refrigerator. You simply can't go wrong!

Durability of advertised jars?

I can and preserve fruits and vegetables every year but have not used the types of jars advertised here. Can they be used as regular Ball jars in the hot water bath as well as pressure canning? I have only used the clamp type jars for pasta and other dry goods.Thank you
A shopper on Jun 8, 2011
BEST ANSWER: Designed for canning, these square jars are made of Italian glass and won’t absorb odors. The lid has an airtight seal with replaceable rubber gasket to keep food fresh, and features a metal clamp that is easy to open. These Jars can be used for pressure canning but are not guaranteed for liquids since the rubber ring with time may leak.

Versatile jar can also be used to store and display pasta, rice, beans and more. No labeling needed, as clear glass allows you to view the contents of the jar. Choose from a variety of sizes to suit all your canning needs. Dishwasher safe. Made in Italy.
Are they really that small?

I would like to have square jars, but 7.5-18 oz is really tiny. For example, if you look at the round ones, they go up to 52 oz. What would you put in these tiny ones??

These smaller jars are perfect for some jellies, jams and preserves. I have seen people to peppers and capers in them as well. You can use them for just about anything you would use the larger jars for and just need a smaller size. I myself like to use the small (7.5 oz) jars in gift baskets at christmas time with an assortment of different jams and butters that Ihave made. They are the perfect size and fit nicely in a basket with the other things (nuts, cheeses, and homemade candies)
Are the 18 oz jars still available?
Christine W on Nov 9, 2014
BEST ANSWER: No, only the 8oz is available.
I am always looking for vertical glass containers for freezing soups. Will these tolerate freezing?
A shopper on Jun 29, 2012
BEST ANSWER: It is NEVER a good idea to freeze directly in a glass jar or container. Your soup can expand up to 1/6th its volume and the larger the food volume the harder it is to just expand upward and not put undue pressure on the glass itself. I would freeze in a BPA free container. If you feel you must freeze in glass the at least freeze the soups in ice cube trays till hard, transfer to jars and fill in spaces with VERY cold (semi frozen slushy) soup then freeze. Good luck
Replacement gaskets

Where can you get square replacement gaskets for these jars?Mine are drying out and cracking
A shopper on Jan 4, 2013
BEST ANSWER: For replacement gaskets, you will need to contact Vetreria Etrusca directly, as they are the manufacturers
Are these freezer safe for raw turkey

I make a raw homemade diet for my cats consisting of ground turkey, chicken liver, pumpkin, water, powdered supplement and salmon oil. The consistency is quite thick, not soupy. Can I freeze this recipe in these jars
Pearlucy on Jul 17, 2014
BEST ANSWER: No. These containers are made for dry goods and not to be stored in the freezer.
Who is the manufacturer?
A shopper on Feb 27, 2013
