A baker's must-have!
I have several Ateco offset spatulas in various sizes, and I use them on a daily basis. If you're a baker who frequently makes brownies, bar cookies, and cakes, you need to have at least one offset stainless-steel icing spatula in your collection. The blade is the ideal combination of strength and flexibility, and using an offset spatula means that you don't end up dragging your knuckles through your frosting as you work around a cake. It's useful for leveling brownie and cake batters to ensure even baking and is a must-have for spreading frosting, particularly on quick-setting sheet cakes like Texas cocoa cake. It's also my tool of choice for spreading fillings and frosting layer cakes. When you're finished, you can either hand-wash or pop it in the dishwasher. Mine have stood up to years of daily abuse and look as new as the day I bought them! I don't know about the newer ones, but all my Ateco offset spatulas were made in Japan

Nice Value
This product satisfies my needs. I use it daily. It has no signs of wear over a great period of time.

Love!
I love my Ateco offset spatulas! These spatulas have the best handles, they fit just right in my hand, they're soft & smooth handles make them easier to hold & work with for long periods. Although because of the way this one was packaged it rubbed against my other item on it's trip to me & now the handle is marred & doesn't feel so good while holding :(

Correct size for icing cakes and bar cookies. Need the offset bend to the spatula. I have flat ones and have never indulged in an offset.

Does the size refer to the blade only or is it the sum of the blade and handle?
Tiffany on Nov 8, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Tiffany, the blade itself is 7" long. Overall, blade plus handle is a tiny bit over 12". I love using it!
what size is the most useful?
A shopper on Feb 4, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It depends on what you are using it for. I use this style for everything that needs spreading (don't just limit your self to frosting - Peanut Butter, Mayo, Jam, lunch spreads, fillings, etc. It is one of my favorite kitchen tools.
For cakes - It depends on what you are doing and the size of you hands. I have offset and flat. I use offset most, because the blade a bit more “nimble” in terms of covering hard to reach areas without your hand getting in way. I have small hands, so I have a 4 to 5 inch and another that is maybe 7 inches. I think one of the local college instructors has students get a 7 or 8.
I don't have any with the narrowing tip, but it would be good for placing flowers on a cake.
If you are frosting a large cake, the flat can be nice for the cake top, to smoothly applying frosting to large, flat surface areas. Tip: Dip in hot water, dry, and go across cake to get a smoother look.
