I am very happy with the pasta attachment set of roller and spaghetti + fettucinni cutters. The receipe book however could use a little tweeking. I made the whole wheat pasta as spec'd in the book, and the dough would not hold together. It does note that 4 large eggs should equal 7/8 cup, but does not say to add water to make up the difference. Once I added about 1/4 cup of water, the dough came out right and make excellent pasta. All in all I am a happy customer
This was the best purchase! I've always struggled to use our manual pasta machine on my own...cranking while feeding sheets of pasta requires 3 hands!
We put this to use the day we got it and have made fresh pasta every other week. I've found there is no perfect recipe for fresh pasta and have been following Fabio Viviani's general rule of pasta: 1 egg per person, a bit of olive oil, pinch of salt, and add flour until you get the perfect consistency, or until your dough does hoola hoops in your food processor (yes, I said food processor!).
The pasta roller makes great crackers with any bread dough that has risen once. Roll a handful of the dough (rye? whole wheat? plain old white?) through until the thinnest setting. Put the ribbon of dough on parchment paper, and either cut it up into cracker sizes, or not. Mist with water and sprinkle on coarse salt, and or pepper, and or cumin seeds, and or sesame seeds, or nothing. The water helps stick things down. Bake off in about a 350 degree oven about 10minutes. A pound of dough makes a ton of crackers. If you do NOT cut up the dough before baking, you can break them off in big shards and serve in a pitcher. This causes serious wow factor with drinks before dinner. The rollers are worth it for the crackers! Note, this can be very low fat crackers.
I thought making pasta with the old style pasta machine was easy until I invested in these pasta attachments. It has made it even easier to make great homemade pasta in 1/2 the amount of time. The clean-up is easier, I don't have flour everywhere, it's a dream. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who has an interest in making homemade pasta; you'll love it. I wish I bought it sooner
I was undecided about spending that much money but I'm so glad I did. I made the most perfect noodles I have ever made. Fast and easy. I highly recommend this noodle maker. Homemade noodles are always better. I've made noodles for years with the hand crank version. Took for ever. Not with this, I was finished in no time. 2 thumbs up
Appreciate the value of KitchenAid's power hub accessories, and this is by far my favorite and most used. Makes it so much easier to roll out pasta dough for ravioli or lasagna. The sizes are ideal. And you get the wow factor of telling your guests that you made them fresh pasta! Great way to accommodate gluten-free friends. And for your other friends, this helps mix it up by helping you make whole wheat, spinach, or red pepper pasta for a colorful pop and a healthy start to the new year
Got this pasta set for my husband. And so far we have made spaghetti and lasagna noodles. These attachments are easy to use and a must If you have a kitchen Aid mixer and love pasta. These are high quality attachments. Was lucky To get them at a special price just before Xmas
Gave this to my 14 y/o son after he had tried to hand roll pasta and found out how difficult it is. He loves his Christmas gift! He was able to use the machine by himself and made the best fettuccine we have ever had! The rolling out part is a little difficult-extra hands are helpful. All in all, the pasta maker is an awesome device
After taking the pasta making cooking class that you offered, my son & I decided we needed a roller & cutter that we could use alone (not needing one person turning the crank while the other loads the pasta sheet).
Love it!!!I bought the hand crack model over 24 yrs ago and didn't use it as much because it was a lot of work to coordinate putting the dough in the machine and cranking it out. This has simplified the entire process---- it simple to use and clean up is confined to where it is used. The clean up for the manual unit was more extensive. For those who love fresh, light pasta which is easy to make---this attachment accomplishes it.
Have used the same attachment 35 years ago for pasta suppers for my small children (which they still remember!) and it was wonderful. This one I'm purchasing for my son, as soon he will be getting my kitchenmaid mixer as I downsize.
I have been using these attachments for years and they work great. I broke the one for the flat pasta. I think it is a shame that I have to buy all three again because Kitchen Aid does not sell only one. It is a scam!!
Will the pasta attachments work on an older model - K45?
I was given this mixer by a friend and I love it. It is avocado green and I think 4 1/2 qt. I just don't know if the more recent attachments will work with it. Can you answer soon so I can get in on the sale? Thanks

Best Answer:Hi Miss Lynn. Spring, TX, here. I wondered this also and located an owners manual for this kit online, model #KPRA.On the cover of the manual it states: ""Model KPRA"" ""These attachments have been approved for use with all KitchenAid household stand mixers."" There is also an 800 phone number shown on the cover: 1-800-541-6390. Just to be sure, you could call them and ask, but it certainly looks as though you should be able to use this kit with your older mixer. Our mixer is newer, but my parents have a very old KitchenAid mixer (40+ years old) and use newer attachments with it. No problems
Agreed - Kitchen Aid uses a standard power hub size across their line, so you should be fine. I've brought my roller set to friends' homes and used it with various models of KitchenAids they owned and never had any problem
Best Answer:I have only used the settings of 1 thru 4. There are 8 settings. The instruction book does not give dimensions. I took 3 sheets of 20LB printer paper and slid them in at the 8 setting. Then I tried 4 pieces of paper and they would not slid thru. Book says - " for setting 7or 8... Very thin "angel-hair"-type pasta/capellini or very fine linguine" 3 pieces of 20lb at setting 8 8 pieces of 20lb at setting 4 I hope this helps
Would this be easy for kids to use? Wanting to make pasta with kids for a 9 year old birthday party and want them to be able to do alot of the work.

Best Answer:The first couple of times you make the pasta it is a little frustrating. Now that we have our recipe down it is much easier. My 12 yr old daughter can do it herself. The point is if you use it several times before the party so at least yourself and at least 1 of the kids is proficient in the steps then the kids should be able to help out. I will say though it is difficult at best to have more than 2 around the machine. One thing to think about also is to get a drying rack like the Marcato. At a mimimum the kids could use the included tool to catch the pasta out of the cutter and put it on the drying rack.
We enjoy ours and will not go back to buying dried pasta as homemade is that much better.
Sorry but this was a Wedding Shower present so we have not used. But my experience with pasta makers in general is that they can be used with supervision by an adult. It is the prepasta making and eating that is the best! (I make my pasta by hand) Barbara
The roller has 8 different thicknesses it can go through to accommodate a wide variety of pasta sizes from thick fettuccine to a very thin angel hair. As long as the dough you are using is not to wet I'm sure the roller could be used for something other than pasta.
