How'd I live w/o one of these?
Amazing! I love mandolines! I love that this one has replaceable blades. (CI recommended too) The only thing I would like is a smaller size - the first one I ordered somewhere else included a mini one w/ a cup feature thing that allowed me to slice lots of garlic cloves at once! Although it dulled fast - which won't be a problem with this one. I consider it eco-friendly since I don't have to toss the entire mandoline when it dulls! I love this!

"There are many mandolines, but this one is mine"
There is a reason that this mandoline is the one most frequently found in professional kitchens. It is incredibly sharp, light, and durable. I've had two in the last dozen years, and the only reason I replaced the first was that I lost it on a job.

Here is the one warning about this product: this is a mandoline for those with more advance skill. The guard is cumbersome, not the easiest to use, and is discarded in professional kitchens. That doesn't mean you should before you're ready if ever. Be careful with this thing... and please don't use it the way it is depicted on cooking/reality shows. Safety first, go slow

Where can I buy a replacement main blade?

SLT seems to have replacement blades for the vertical julienne blades, but I need a replacement for the main cutting blade. Thanks
A shopper on Nov 10, 2013
Best Answer: We do not carry that particular blade; however you can purchase that standard blade from a place called The House of Rice Store. They do have a website and the item number you would need is #Z38060FL.

would this shred chicken?
A shopper on May 28, 2015
Best Answer: Absolutely! A helpful hint for anything on the mandolin though is to make sure the product you're trying to slice is colder.. Room temperature or warm items tend to fall apart and not slice. I would stick your chicken in the fridge for a few minutes to firm it up.

Also, do be SURE to use the hand protector!!

How long do the blades last before they get dull?
A shopper on May 15, 2013
Best Answer: It all depends on how often you use the mandoline and what you are using it for. The more you use it, the blades will dull and you will need to replace them. A good indicator that it is time to replace your blade is the quality of your slice. If you feel your blade is not slicing as easily or as clean as it was, then it's probably time to replace it
