A mandoline is the way to slice, crinkle cut and waffle cut potatoes, onions and more. A turn of the soft dial selects slice thickness and julienne setting. Its handle keeps your hand out of the way and provides a comfortable grip.
Hardened stainless-steel slicing blades, safely covered when not in use, store on board and remove easily for cleaning. Flaring legs and non-slip feet for stability. Dishwasher safe.
OXO began with a simple question. Why do ordinary kitchen tools hurt your hands? OXO set out to create a line of kitchen tools that would be comfortable to hold and easy to use. Today OXO offers more than 500 ergonomic products with pressure-absorbing, comfort-grip handles.
Six Years I've had this and I've replaced the blade once. It has been used in everything from 5 Diamond to small privately owned restaurants and has taken a beating, yet, it still keeps working. I don't understand how a potato can't be sliced when I've had to slice hundreds for au gratins and homemade chips. This product is well worth the money, unless you actually have the money to buy a very good one...but a lot of people don't. So your choice
The mandoline doesn't cut well. To much effort has to be used to make a slice. I can slice a potatoe but I real have to push the product being cut. I waste more time trying to use this slicer than it is worth. I can't make a delicate slice with this item. The adjustments are not percise but doable.
I received this, never used, from a friend who got it as a wedding present. I was SO excited because I hate slicing, especially for potatoes gratin. Unfortunately, the grip really doesn't work for me. I'd get through 75% of a potato, and it would just, stop. The grip has to dig in so deeply to the vegetable to hold it still, that I couldn't slice the entire piece, and a quarter of my veggie would have to be tossed out or hand-sliced.
I traded it in for a Rosle V-Slicer. Those aren't as versatile, but I don't mind. I just want something that works completely, every time
I had this mandolin for 7 years and it was lost. It sliced wonderfully and I have made scalloped potatoes numerous times in addition to other vegetables. I am purchasing another. I would highly recommend it.
This is a holiday gift for my son-in-law who enjoys cooking. I had a tough time choosing between the plastic v slicer which had the cooking class recommendation and the more expensive OXO model which is the favorite of the staff. I am hoping that this can be a starter model for him and if he enjoys using it he can upgrade!
