Like most of SLT's made-in-France beechwood utensils, it's a good value for a basic item. I avoid using plastic (or bamboo) utensils with food, and prefer items made in counties with strong manufacturing regulations. So this turner fits the bill.
On the downside, this turner feels thin and light, and the finishing is rough and rustic (barely sanded if at all). So using it isn't a tactile joy.
On the upside, it's held up fine through moderate use, being oiled maybe once every few months. No cracks, splinters, softening, or rot. The wood is hard, so despite its roughness it washes up easily. And the price is right. I wish SLT would offer this turner (with ithe slanted head) in a non-slotted version
