Spoon split within a week of purchase
The head of this spoon split about a week after I bought it. I was surprised, because my other SLT beechwood items have held up fine, including the left-handed version of this very spoon. I've kept it around for low-importance tasks, treated it just like my other beechwood spoons (periodic oiling, no soaking in water, etc), but it's now developed several splits, and the handle is badly warped as well.

I can't recommend this spoon, based on the quality issue. Also, price has gone up by 2/3 in less than 2 years. Finally, these spoons have a design flaw, a deep angle between the handle and head, which makes this area difficult to clean and slow to dry.

Still...I may end up buying another if they go on sale, because of the success I've had with related items from SLT

Why did you choose this?
Sur La Table Store
Thought the pointed edge would be great to get the delish bits out of the corner of pans when braising.
