Best Balsamic & Worth Every Penny
I had walked by this bottle of balsamic vinegar several times and never took special notice of it. My family and I already had our preferred balsamic of choice for our meals at a price point of approximately $10.

One afternoon this balsamic was available for tasting, and it changed everything. It was rich, syruppy (sp?), had layers of flavor and came to be the best balsamic vinegar I had ever tasted. I had to have it, so the price of $29.95 was what I was willing to pay.

I began a mission of drizzling it on everything. It had enough integrity to stand up to every dish I prepared, including blended soups, something that was not accomplished by previous, lower-grade balsamics. My husband noticed significant benefits in the quality of this balsamic as well: flavor, richness, sweetness, and the the fact that we could use less of it per serving (giving us more flavor per ounce). For these reasons, he didn't mind that we were spending more per bottle for this high-end product. It proved itself to be worth every penny

I am addicted
This balsamic is like a great wine, smooth, delicious and a highlight of any meal. I use it on salad, for dipping and even on fresh fruit. I never even use salad dressing anymore, instead just using a little of this balsamic as a finishing touch

Excellent taste
This vinegar is so smooth & sweet. This can be used for desserts or a marinade or for dipping there is no way you can go wrong with it. It is worth it!

Drizzle me on Vanilla ice cream
Want something diffrent to impress your plain vanilla ice cream? This 12year balsamic is the way to go! Thick and sweet it will also shine on salads, pork loin, or even a chunk of Parm reggiano as a late night snack. The price is worth it and it makes a great hostess gift for your next dinner party

After buying this, I can't go back to other vinegars. It's thick, sweet, and syrupy. This vinegar is equally delicious in sweet and savory applications. HIGHLY recommend (despite the high price tag). A great hostess gift as well

Simply divine!
I bought this balsamic vinegar because a friend highly recommended it. And he told me how well it went with ice cream. Who knew! As soon as I opened the bottle, I fell in love with it. The aroma! And the taste - smooth. I love it on ice cream (vanilla or chocolate) and on fruit. Exquisite

My favorite vinegar
Ever since I found this vinegar at a vinegar tasting, I've used it exclusively in salads and on vegetables. A bit expensive, but worth it

Goes on everything
I took the gnocchi class and the instructor suggested putting it on one of the finished dishes. I fell in love. Now it goes on pizza, pasta, fresh tomatoes, fruit, you name it. Thick and syrupy- still a great buy for the price. It's like nothing I've ever tasted

Great all around
Wonderful, delicious, complex, syrupy goodness. Great as a finishing balsamic, or adding intense flavor in cooked dishes and sauces. Great value for this excellent quality. And a great gift

Simply the best I've had for the cost.
I was introduced to this Balsamic in one of my Sur La Table classes. We made a reduction sauce with diced Fuji apples to use over pork or grilled salmon. My wife and I prefer using this Balsamic over salads over any other we have tried. It is simply great. The only Balsamic I had that compared was one a friend brought me directly from France that had been aged 18 years.

This product contains LEAD?

Are you serious? That is insane. I can't believe people will consume this knowing that it contains LEAD!!
A shopper on Dec 23, 2012
BEST ANSWER: All balsamic and red wine vinegars contain naturally occurring lead. Most balsamic and red wine vinegars have lead levels equal to or less than 34 parts per million. An average person would need to consume 1 to 2 cups of balsamic or red wine vinegar per day to reach the Proposition 65 lead level minimum threshold, which includes a 1000-fold safety margin. It appears that there is some controversy about where the lead comes from that is found in vinegars. Some say that is from lead that is naturally absorbed into the grapes from the soil. There is some feeling that the lead might happen during the manufacturing process. Neither of these theories have been proven. It does not appear that it has to do with the glass bottles
How should I store this balsamic vinegar? Just bought my first bottle and wondered if I should refrigerate after opening? It will probably take me a while to get through the bottle.
A shopper on Jun 12, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I just keep it capped in a kitchen cabinet, darkened/shaded/cool, away from heat, as I, too, have it on hand for quite a while, as I use it most judiciously because it's such a delicacy. It keeps forever in such conditions. Never gave it a thought to refrigerate as it might thicken too much to pour from the bottle. Over the several years I've had this luscious condiment on hand simply storing it in a cabinet out of the light and heat seems to have maintained it quite well ofver time. It is indeed such a treasure to have on hand for all dining and/or gourmet occasions. I never tire of this product and treasure and savor every single drop to the bottom of the bottle.
I've still one near-empty bottle on hand and another stored that I've not yet opened. Thanks for asking. Enjoy it to the max! So flavorful and delectable and rich and thick! It's a fabulous product! Wish I could afford the even more aged such balsamics from Sur La Table! This works just fine for my modest budget. Enjoy! (: db
Is it $29 for 3 bottles or for one of the balsamic vinegar?
A shopper on Dec 11, 2011
BEST ANSWER: I paid $29.95 for the tall skinny bottle in the center/back of the three in the image. It was/is worth every single penny because it is much richer and thicker than a standard, mainstream store-bought balsamic. It is packed full of flavor as well. I have drizzled it on soups and added it to hot apple cider as well. Typical usage is for salad dressing. It is so high-caliber that it has become our balsamic vinegar of choice
Does this product contain sulfites?

Does this product contain sulfires?

LAURA T on May 6, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes - according to the label the vinegar does contain sulfites. It does not specify whether they are naturally occurring or whether additional sulfites were added as a preservative. Sulfites are sometimes added to products that are fermented (wine or vinegars, for example) to stop the fermentation process or to preserve the product after bottling. According to our FDA, products containing more than 10 PPM (parts per million) of sulfites must be labeled as such.
Is this actually real modena balsamic vinegar? the price tells me no..
A shopper on Apr 4, 2016
BEST ANSWER: This vinegar is produced by Fattoria Estense and carries the "IGP" logo and certification as true Aceto Balsamico Di Modena IGP. The IGP designation can only be (legally) used by producers who meet the Italian government official requirement that the mixing of raw materials, processing, refining and ageing in wooden containers must take place in the geographical area that makes up the administrative province of Modena. There are no other guarantees regarding sourcing of the components, so a lot depends on the integrity and goals of the producer. Only you can determine whether or not you like the taste of this particular Balsamic. To me, personally, I think it is excellent.
