Great Jars!
I absolutely love these jars and highly recommend them. I put sugar (3l), vanilla sugar (3l), brown sugar (2l) and flour (5l) in them. They look great on my counter, they're durable and sturdy, they're wonderful.

The reason I have the features 4 stars out of 5 is that they're a smidge difficult to open, it's recommended to hold the metal as you open it to avoid breaking the jar. Truly not a big deal though.

Excellent quality and I will definitely purchase them again.

One caveat: I bought all my jars in the square shape so they would fit best on my counter, but the 5l is only available in round. I'm trying to overcome my OCD and not let that bug me. :

Fabulous Jars
I have the 5 liter jars and use them for dehydrated garden produce as well as fermenting pickles, sauerkraut, etc. These are fantastic jars. You won't find this quality of food storage jars at this price anywhere else

Jelly Jars
I purchased several of the 0.2 Liter jars to use for salsa, jams and jellies. The jars sealed well and look beautiful. While I will have to replace the seals, the idea of having glass lids rather than metal appeals to me. They are also well priced when I compare them to the other brand of all-glass canning jars I have bought previously. I am very happy with the product and will buy additional sizes

Simply Perfect
I bought several of these jars in the .2L size to try to make cheesecake in a jar. I had to find jars that were well-made, and would stand up to oven use. These were perfect! I was able to slide the lids off with little effort, and the results were just wonderful. They tasted great, and looked adorable! I'd highly recommend these jars for any of your projects

(Almost) perfect for me.
I only use these jars for dry storage, not for canning. I probably could have bought acrylic jars but I am afraid they'll get scratched and foggy. I like the glass jars. The only things to be aware of...the metal latch will get a milky appearance from putting it in the dishwasher. You can remove the latch. Just pay attention to how it comes off so you'll know how to put it back on. #1 on my wishlist...silicone gaskets. Contrary to what a previous reviewer stated, the gaskets are rubber, not silicone and they dry out and harden in a couple years. The one thing Bomioli should do to make these jars better is provide silicone gaskets. Of course if you're canning you should be replacing the gaskets before each canning session

Amazing value
Perfect storage jars at a fraction of the price of Le Parfait. I actually prefer the look of the white gasket in my pantry to Le Parfait's orange one, but it's handy that the gaskets are interchangeable. I stack the 1 L size to save space. Just went back to stock up on more. Over the summer, I put mulberries in a jar in the fridge and they kept perfectly for over a week and a half - must be the seal - in a regular bowl with plastic wrap on top I am lucky to get 2-3 days before the berries are moldy mush

Excellent Product
I love, love, love these jars. I bought a ton of them in various sizes to keep food fresh in my pantry. I use them to store everything from dried pasta to flour and sugar and cereal. Because we are all organic, I needed to make sure I had a product that was air tight, and plastic just wasn't working. I also wanted glass because of the chemical nature of plastic. I would highly recommend these jars. They were packed well when shipped, and when a couple arrived broken, Sur La Table replaced them right away

Wonderful jars!
I use all sizes of these jars to store everything from sugar to salt, to dried rice and beans, to candies and cookies. We have ant problems during the summer, and these jars keep everything out. Absolutely love them

Love these
Perfect. You should handwash the jar so the latch wont rust, but the silicone seal can go in the d'washer. A bit heavier than the pricey/popular plastic ones, but these actually work. If you want them to stack check out the square ones

Jars for dehydrated foods
I bought a few jars (elsewhere) to store soaked then dehydrated beans, seeds, and legumes. The cost was high and the packaging left much to be desired. One jar arrived in smithereens. / We needed more jars as I learned how to do this. I purchased ten more, all size 1L, this time from Sur La Table. They look great on our shelves and I know that the food is stored safely. Sur La Table quality is terrific and the packaging & shipping was done so carefully that every jar arrived in perfect condition. The cost was more in line with the product. I will be back to purchase more as the need arises. I'm glad I discovered Sur La Table

Great Jars
I bought my first jars years ago. I don't do any canning, but I use them for storing food, like rice, pasta, sugar, etc. They're great and have lasted. I just bought several more to increase my collection. They also look good on open shelves. If you're trying to avoid using plastics, these are a good alternative.

"the latch comes apart, but overall works well"
I use this jar to store dry yeast for baking. The metal latch tends to come apart because of the way it's made, which can be fixed by reassembling by hand. It's kind of annoying, but the jar does seal well

Quality Product
This is the only kind of jar I buy for storing our teas and coffees. Its beautiful to look at and looks great. I priced this item everywhere else and you cant beat the price at Sur La Table. Plus I have to point out that I have NEVER seen packaging like that of Sur La Table! I'm pretty sure I could drop the box from a building and all the jars would remain intact. Fast free shipping if you meet the small minimum order. Impressive company

Perfect for fermenting foods
Jars come with lids and gaskets. I use them to ferment foods. They way the lids seal the gases can escape out, while keeping all the "good bacteria" in and oxygen out. I've made fermented vegetables, milk kefir, and water kefir. I also use them to store other goods like flour, sugar, etc... I take my food out of plastic containers and put it in glass.

Can you fit a measuring cup in the 3 and 5 l? I am looking for something to store flour and sugar in but would like the convenience of sticking a measuring cup right in. Thanks!
A shopper on Aug 4, 2014
Best Answer: You might be able to fit a smaller measuring cup--like 1.4 or 1.3, but certainly not anting like a 1 cup. The neck is too narrow.

Is there a glass storage jar with clamp that will accommodate pasta, i.e., spaghetti, lasagna noodles
A shopper on Aug 12, 2011
Best Answer: Designed for canning, this jar is made of Italian glass and won’t absorb odors. The lid has an airtight seal with replaceable rubber gasket to keep food fresh, and features a metal clamp that is easy to open. Versatile jar can also be used to store and display pasta, rice, beans and more. No labeling needed—clear Italian glass allows you to view the contents of the jar. Available in a variety of sizes for an assortment of foods.

Dimensions: ½ liter: 3¾" height x 4¼" diameter; ¾ liter: 5¼" height x 4¼" diameter; 1 liter: 6¼" height x 4¼" diameter; 1½ liter: 8¾" height x 4¼" diameter; 2 liters: 8½" height x 5" diamete

Right now those are the only sizes we have. I don't think any of these would work for spaghetti or lasagna noodles. We do have other storage containers that will work for this purpose. You could try the OXO POP 5 piece starter kit. There is a container in that set that is specially made for spaghetti and lasagna noodle storage. It is not a glass jar, however it is a clean and clear hard plastic that is very transparent and not cloudy at all. I have attached it below if you are interested.

are they square or round?
A shopper on Jan 4, 2015
Best Answer: The sizes I have are square with rounded corners (1 L, 1.5L, 2L and 3L) except for the 5L one, which is round. The lids are all round and, again, in the sizes I have, are all the same size and therefore interchangeable.

Are they freezer safe? I would like to use it freeze milk.
veena s on Mar 24, 2015
Best Answer: I can not answer this question specifically. I can give you my opinion, though. I am a canner. To the best of my knowledge, when you freeze items you want to use jars that have straight sides. The jars can not have any "shoulders" Because these fido jars have shoulders, I would not use them to freeze in. I would use the ball canning jars that are wide mouth: either the pint or pint and a half.

A 22 oz bag of flour can fit into the 1L jar. Did I do the math right?
L F on Jun 25, 2015
Best Answer: So according to the internet, 22 oz of flour is roughly 4 to 4 1/2 cups, which is roughly 1 litre. So it should fit, or come close to fitting.

All of the jars have the same size lids, which means same size gaskets. That's why the very large jars look like they have tiny lids.
