Founded in 1925, the Le Creuset factory in Fresnoy-Le-Grand France is a world-renowned maker of enameled cast iron cookware. The rigorous process starts with molten iron being sand cast from a single mold that"s destroyed after use, explaining why no two pieces are identical. Pots, pans and accessories are then painstakingly polished and finished by hand, then sprayed with two coats of enamel and fired twice. No other procedure yields cookware that so evenly conducts and retains heat, making Le Creuset cast iron second to none for slow cooking.
A few years ago (maybe two now) Le Creuset made a short, small silicone spatula (7"" long w/ a spatula head that was about an inch and 3/8ths across at the widest point). Lovely, little, very flexible, and something I use constantly. I managed to throw one out with some peelings so immediately stocked up and got four more. I still have them, but I use them so much -- and I wanted to share them with my daughter - that I ordered another five when I saw what I thought was the same spatula on the website. What I got was a behemoth of a spatula - silicone, to be sure, but the whole thing is 11 inches long and the spatula part is 2.5 inches across. What's worse (actually, the worst bit) is that the heads on the new ones aren't flexible at all, unlike the smaller spatulas that clean up everything because they are so pliable. In pictures they looked very like the small ones I used to be able to buy -- and the description said that the dimensions were ""various"" (whatever that means). Love love love the small ones, which are apparently not made any more. Not so crazy about the big ones because of their total lack of flexibility. Maybe my problem is that I don't make brownies, ice baked goods, or fold delicate batters. Please, LC - bring back the small, flexible spatulas so I can get rid of these giant ones!! (And I know my rating is perhaps not fair -- but I feel that the inflexibility makes for a poor spatula in any size.
I echo a previous review: A few years ago Le Creuset made a short, small silicone spatula, 7" long w/ a head that was about an inch and 3/8ths across. It was delightful, small, and very flexible. We use them all the time in our household as individual spatulas. I too thought I saw the same spatula on the website and eagerly ordered more. BUT THIS IS NOT IT! It is a HUGE spatula - silicone, but 11 inches long and 2.5 inches across at the top. It's not flexible at all and doesn't work as well as the lovely smaller spatulas. Sur la Table, please put in a clearer description, with dimensions, to avoid people like me taking my order back to the store for a refund! And LE CREUSET, please make the small ones with a flexible silicone end again!
on one description it says"" heat resistant up to 800 degrees""--in another, ""to 480 degrees"". Which is it

Best Answer:This is not a set. The item in the photo that is being referred to is the large silicone spatula. If you click on the product you can see individual pics in all the different colors. That will help to clarify. Also this product is heat resistant up to 480 degrees.
I bought two sizes from your Berkley and SF stores several years ago. I love them and need to re-order. I like the large 2 3/4" Le Creuset Spatula Spoons, but rarely use them because the Medium size, 2" x 10" ones are MUCH more handy. Do you carry the 2" anymore. Plus they make a tiny one that is GREAT but hard to find. Can you help?
