Far Superior
The black textured enamel finish cooks like raw cast iron developing more fond and therefor richer sauces when the pan is deglazed. The self basting spikes on the inside of the lid help reduce the amount of outside cooking liquid needed! One of the best things to come out of France! Bon Appetite!

Why did you choose this?
Sur La Table Store
I love Staub cookware...it's sturdy and good looking enough to serve from hob or oven to the table.

Staub quality @ a great price! Love the size & color of this dutch oven!
Lynne F on Dec 28, 2015
I visited a Sur La Table store recently that had this item in stock. Being able to handle and see the incredible quality of this item and comparing to competitive items finalized my purchasing choice. The quality of this product is obviously much nicer than other similar items. I have other products by this manufacturer and just couldn't be more pleased with them.

will the 5 3/4 Q staub coq au vin coquette fit a full chicken or turkey for roasting?
A shopper on May 3, 2011
Best Answer: In new fall colors, an enameled cast-iron casserole that celebrates the classic French recipe coq au vin. Superb for braising, stewing and simmering, spikes inside the lid drop evaporated juices back into food for continuous basting. This Coq Au Vin is the perfect size for beef stew or roasting chicken with plenty of room for vegetables, however I don't think a larger bird like a turkey would fit. The dimensions of this item are 15 x 11.8 x 6.4 inches

How do you decide which size to buy and whether to get the oval versus round shape?
Virginia E on Jan 23, 2016
Best Answer: It all depends on what is being cooked. I have an oval one for chickens and roasts and a small one for stovetop cooking. They are fabulous!!!!
