Finally a SHARP KNIFE
I've been working hard to achieve a sharp, long lasting edge on my knives with different stones. Once I started working with this stone I finally achieved the results I've heard other speak and write about. It takes a bit of time and patience but the results are amazing. Razor quality and an edge that lasts. I also use this to touch up my everyday knives. Remember a good 2+ hour soaking in water before starting and then keep them wet during the process.

Good combination of medium and finishing grit, also comes with the base. A nice option for people that want to keep their Japanese steel sharp but don't want to spend a lot of money or take up a lot of space.

What are the Shun whetstone's dimensions?

Your description doesn't give the dimensions of this whetstone, so I can't really compare it with the other two that you offer, both of which have their dimensions listed; King - 8"" x 2"" x 1"" and Zwilling - 6.75"" x 3"
A shopper on Jun 1, 2011
BEST ANSWER: The dimensions of this whetstone are very similar to the other 2 you mentioned. This one is 7 1/4" long by 2 1/2" long & 1/2" thick.
Are the 2 stones separate, or one piece?
susan f on Dec 15, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The stones are a single base. The base is separate, but the white/brown stones are bonded into a single, double-sided stone.
What is the base made out of? Does it separate from the stone? Will the base deteriorate if soaked in water?
susan f on Dec 15, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It is made out of a rubbish plastic, yes it removes from the stone, and no it doesn't deteriorate if soaked in water I leave mine in the water with the stone all the time. However, keep the base flat. It is bendy and will curve if left not flat for too long
Is this whetstone made of aluminum oxide?
A shopper on Sep 5, 2015
BEST ANSWER: No, it is made with ceramic grit
Is this whetstone appropriate for the MiYabi 6000 MCT knife?
