Economical & Efficient
For brewing tea, this is a must. Most infusers have holes too large so the tea leaves or dust will leak into the tea cup/pot/pitcher. Too many infusers are primarily plastic, which retains the flavor of the teas.
The Finum mesh screen is so fine, I rarely have any particles steep through to my cup. Because the screen is stainless steel, the Finum brew basket does not retain any odors! I wash it by hand; it does not need the dishwasher.
The Teavana 'perfect tea maker' is anything but! The teas would get caught in their larger openings of the plastic straining screen, the plastic container itself retained the flavor of the teas (despite declarations of their employees and packaging) and it took forever to completely dry out after brewing.
I use this brew basket in my 16 ounce/32 ounce glass measuring cups, directly into my 2 quart glass pitcher or travel mugs. I usually want more than an 8 oz cup of tea so I brew a variety of portions. This basket is perfect for a variety of brewing needs.
Due to plastic retaining odors from coffee, tea, hot chocolate, etc., I stopped using plastic lined travel mugs. I now use only glass, porcelain, ceramic or stainless steel to brew/drink my tea. The odors wash completely from the these without difficulty and without using the dishwasher.

Wanted a larger basket to brew tea in my ceramic teapot. The whole leaf tea I get really needs room to spread out.

We drink a lot of loose-leaf tea and this is the most efficient and effective infusion system we have ever found. Great quality, durability and design.

This a fantastic clean brewing basket for looseleaf tea. It is lightweight, easy to clean, and the plastic edge makes it easy to handle without burning ones fingers.

is the bottom also mesh?
Julia L on Feb 19, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the bottom is also mesh. I love this brewing basket. The lid helps hold heat in while steeping and then it doubles as a "saucer" in which to set the basket in after steeping, just as is shown in the picture.
Are the measurements for the Medium and Large the actual inside diameter of the filter? I'm looking to purchase a second one and the one I have has an inside diameter of 65mm
Kelly H on Aug 12, 2014
BEST ANSWER: No. The smallest diameter refers to the outside diameter at the top. The largest measurement refers to the top including the handles.
