"Beautiful on the counter, but not practical"
Always thought I'd love a marble rolling pin...so I took advantage of the great sale. It looks so nice on my counter, but I tried to use it the other day to roll out some cookie dough, and it was too heavy to handle and it tore my dough. If you can manage the weight, I would only recommend using this rolling pin with a less delicate dough

Love this pin
This is a great pin for your everyday baking needs. It is perfect for pie crust especially since the marble stays cool. It is a nice heavy pin making the rolling process even easier. If you have a delicate dough, I would recommend a different pin.
My favorite thing is it comes with a cradle so it doesn't roll all over when I'm storing it

The only rolling pin I own
I have had this rolling pin for over 15 years and I love it. I don't have any others and actually got rid of the wooden one I had. This is heavy and make quick work of pie crust and potica dough. It's also great for crushing crackers or potato chips. In the amount of time it takes to take out a food processor, I'm finished with my crumbs.

Beautiful Marble Rolling Pin
This is heavy duty marble. Looks great with my new marble pastry board. Got them together. Can put in refrigerator and it makes working with dough much easier.

Bought to Match Marble Pastry Board
I haven't actually used this yet, but it arrived in fairly good condition, just a couple of minor chips at one edge of the roller that I could't tell for sure if they were caused during shipping or were already there.

This rolling pin makes baking a joy. It is heavy, rolls out dough smoothly and without sticking. Wish I had this 50 years ago when I started baking, so I am getting one for my daughter who is now baking with her young daughter.

What is the country of origin?

Could you let me know where the rolling pin and also the marble pastry board are made?
A shopper on Feb 21, 2011
BEST ANSWER: The marble pastry board and rolling pin are an excellent choice for someone who really enjoys making homemade pastas and delicate pastries. The surface stays cool which helps keep the dough from sticking and thus reduces the need to add flour. They are made in Taiwan and held to the highest standards of quality and safety. We here at Sur La Table back all of our products, guaranteeing 100% satisfaction
Does the 10"" include the handles

I am trying to figure out how long the actual rolling surface of the rolling pin is. Does the 10"" include the handles? Thanks
A shopper on Dec 16, 2013
BEST ANSWER: 10"" does not include handles. It is 18"" with handle
How heavy (in pounds) is the rolling pin?
A shopper on Nov 25, 2011
BEST ANSWER: Our 10"" rolling pi,n with wooden handles and a marble cradle, weighs about 7 1/2 lbs
what is the diameter of the pin?
Elaine W on Nov 14, 2014
BEST ANSWER: 2 1/2"
I bought the marble pin and board and had a really terrible time rolling out pastry dough for a pie. The dough stuck really badly to the board and I had to keep adding flour to stop it from sticking. I've made crusts before without issues, but this was bad. Is there a tutorial or explanation on how the marble should be used? It's the only thing I can image made a difference. i would love to learn to use it properly because i've heard marble is the best for dough. Thanks!
Laura B on Nov 11, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Try chilling the marble
