Only handle on lid is riveted
Very good quality, but the answer to my question was misleading. Only the handle on lid is riveted. Side handles for lifting are spot welded. They feature a wide escutcheon with several spot welds so it should be durable - time will tell.

Overall very good quality and heavy base for quick, even cooking

Perfect Stock Pot
We used the pot last week to first make a large vegetable stock and then to cook gumbo, using the stock we had just made. It performed both tasks perfectly. The bottom is thick enough to prevent food from sticking to the bottom and scorching/burning, even at higher temperatures. The removable steamer insert is perfect for making stock. Just remove it and you have a clean stock; no straining is necessary. We have already recommended it to our friends and relatives

Sur La Table® Tri-Ply Stainless Steel Stockpot with Pasta Insert, 8 qt.
Sur La Table® Tri-Ply Stainless Steel Stockpot with Pasta Insert, 8 qt.
Best Answer: I got the smaller one. Cooking a pound of spagetti is tight. Be sure not to put too much water in the pot or boils over and makes a mess. I haven't tried lasagna; however, I suspect you'd have to stand there and work with the pasta till it softens and bends. If you cook a lot of pasta or need to cook for a crowd, the larger pot (which I've never tried) may provide more flexibility.

Am I able to purchase just the mesh insert.

I have the 12 QT Stainless Steel Multicooker. I don't need two of them, but could really benefit to have the mesh insert as well. Is there a way for me to order just the mesh insert for that pot? Thank you
A shopper on Jan 18, 2011
Best Answer: No mesh insert is available, but you can buy buy the pasta and steamer inserts separately
