My review is on the black one but it is the same unit. I gave this one a low value rating since the black one is 89.99 and they want to charge 50 dollars for a stainless look.
Ok So I got this grinder and was immediately mad... I couldn't figure out why the hopper wouldn't go in... After chipping off the edge of the hopper I found the problem that the base was not in line. Ok no problem their customer service was great was sent a new hopper no problem. Ever since then the plastic guides were worn so I have to hold the hopper down for it to grind. The grinding is great good quality burrs grind quietly and evenly. I must say that an on/off switch would be nice. Finally my last complaint about it, cleaning this thing sucks, especially when you have oily beans. I cannot figure out why capresso would give you such a tiny brush. Lastly, a glass bin would be better as the plastic build static and causes it to be messier that needed
After extensive research I bought the metal bodied version of this grinder to replace a 25 year old Braun burr grinder that died from accumulated oily dust binding the blade and overheating the motor. The Braun's blades were also badly worn.
The Capresso Infinity is a great improvement over the Braun and a Cuisinart burr grinder I rarely use because it won't grind coarse enough for a French press. I find Capresso's claims of being quieter and producing less fines to be absolutely true. My French pressed coffee is significantly less muddy now. The conical burrs seem to out perform the flat burrs of the Braun and other lower cost grinders.
It is far easier to clean than my Capresso than the Braun and it does not accumulate oily deposits as quickly. Nether does it suffer from the static explosions like the Braun did although I still fill my press in the sink. After reading the instructions, I found removing the hopper for cleaning easy, you simply have to turn the hopper past coarse an lift up and align it in the same position to reassemble.
The plastic bodied version of this is a half to a third the price of the the next level of grinders which makes it a bargain. Given that my Braun lasted 25 years with daily use, my Capresso will likely be the last grinder I buy. Capresso is a Jura product line and it shows in the design and performance
I NEVER take stuff back... Until now. Finest grind was FAR too coarse, flimsy constructions, and worst of all, the grounds somehow become charged with static & cling to the machine, everywhhere but the catch-cup making a HUGE mess every time you use it. I bit the bullett & bought a Breville
Best Answer:The costlier ones typically have better grinders (like ceramic instead of metal) and can keep your grinds cool so they don't burn while grinding. Other great features are more grind settings, larger capacity and the ability to measure how much coffee you have ground.
