Great Steamer
I think this steamer is a great kitchen basic. It is sturdy and steams very evenly. I bought the larger steamer since I make a lot of Asian food. If you do buy the larger one make sure you have a wok or pan that is large enough to hold the wok and steaming liquid.

What a Buy
I bought two of these for my father who lived in Tiawan for 7 years and has steamers from there. He uses these a lot and he says they are of a very high quality and much better than the numerous ones that he has looked at but never bought because they were not made well or correctly. He likes them so much he's asked for another set for his birthday this year.

This wasn't what I was expecting.
Description of steamer says package contains 3 steamers but there are only two. 3rd piece is a lid, not a steamer. I was surprised and not very happy when it arrived. Steamer is well made and well sized but not want I was expecting. I hope you change the description so we know what we're getting when we order. I bought both sizes so I was doubly disappointed

Bought to cook steamed dumplings I learned to make at Sur La Table's Japanese and Chinese cooking classes which were great and fun to take. I enjoy cooking recipes from different cultures and cuisines.

Because it is a healthy cooking technique and I wanted to try a cod recipe in banana leaves that seems delicious!

My husband does not like his rice gummy. I have high hopes this steamer will yield perfectly textured rice! :) Plus, it's healthy to steam food, so I'm looking forward to using it to steam veggies, etc. The only downside is hand washing it, but I think it will be worth it.

Debby R on Apr 4, 2015
Steaming is my preferable method for vegetables and my metal steamer insert only fits the one pan I use for rice, noodles or potatoes. This double steamer seems like it will solve my dilemna . I ordered an extra for my son and his wife who also like to cook healthy.

I only use bamboo to steam vegetables and dim sum. Natural products are better than those plastic steamers with the horrible plastic smell.

SANDRA R on Aug 26, 2016
how many layers are there in the bamboo steamers

are the steamers made with any metal
A shopper on Aug 8, 2011
BEST ANSWER: Bamboo steamers are the traditional, healthy way to cook vegetables, fish, dim sum, dumplings and more. Steaming requires no oil and preserves more nutrients than other methods. Stackable layers let you cook a variety of foods at once. Hand wash. The 10"" steamer comes with 5 layers and the 6"" steamer has 4 layers and are not made with any metal at all
do you need a wok to use these steamers?
M H on Oct 29, 2015
BEST ANSWER: For the smaller steamers I use a regular saucepan. it is deep enough to hold water or broth.. For the larger steamers I think a wok works better. My skillets are too shallow to hold enough liquid for the time needed to steam larger quantities of food.
How many actual "steamer" containers are there in the 10" one?
ChtVA on Oct 25, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Two stackable steamers with one lid.
What is the INSIDE diameter? My daughter uses hers for steaming vegies or dumplings and transporting pies! So need to be sure it will hold a pie pan. Thank you.
Jami J on Dec 9, 2014
BEST ANSWER: A 10" steamer is an outside measurement. The actual inside diameter is 9 and 1/4 inches. Since pie dishes are 8 to 9" they should fit. Never thought about using it as a carrier. Thank you. You can get a 12" steamer and it has basically the same ratios for inner and outer diameter.
Can both the 6 in. and the 10 in SLT bamboo steamers be used in the SLT Professional Carbon Steel Wok or is the 10 in bamboo steamer to wide to fit in the bottom of the wok?
A shopper on Apr 23, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The 6" and the 10" can be in a standard wok. It does not need to touch the bottom, just hover above the boiling water. As long as it fits in the wok then it is good to go.
Can I stack 2 sets of the bamboo ssteamr, to get 4 different veggies?
Gloria D on Nov 28, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I have 2 sets and I think the veggies cook much better when used separately. I don't stack the two sets together
Can you put it the little steamer directly in water?
A shopper on Apr 21, 2016
BEST ANSWER: i only have the large steamers...but wouldn't advise to put them directly in water...
Does this steamer is made of bamboo that is Not treated with chemicals or other hazardous stuff??
