Born of the steel age in 1960, All-Clad® Metalcrafters began as a small metallurgical company that specialized in formulating bonded metals for a variety of industries. Company founder John Ulam was awarded more than 50 U.S. patents, specifically related to bonded metals, and was instrumental in the U.S. Mint’s conversion from solid silver coins to the bonded layered metals we use today.
After years of perfecting his bonding process, Ulam established All-Clad Metalcrafters in 1971 and began producing commercial-quality bonded cookware for professional chefs and gourmet home cooks. The brand flourished as early adopters realized the cookware’s extraordinary properties and exemplary cooking performance.
All-Clad cookware is handcrafted with a unique bonding process using a proprietary recipe of metals to provide optimum cooking performance. No detail is overlooked in crafting All-Clad cookware. Thanks to its superb cooking performance, All-Clad continues to be the brand of choice for many of the world’s top chefs and culinary enthusiasts.
I am enjoying this beautiful slow cooker. I love looking at it on my counter as dinner is cooking itself :D However, with this model of the All-Clad slow cooker I don't like that you can't saute in the same pot before you let it slow cook. There is another model that All-Clad has that you can do that because the vessel is not ceramic. You can put that one on your stove and transfer it to the slow cooker and not have to dirty more than one pot. The lid on that one is not glass though, it is metal (can't see through to your food). I like to buy from Sur La Table because of their awesome return policy on purchases from them, but it is annoying that they don't offer both models of this beautiful slow cooker
I received this as a gift 2 years ago. The ceramic insert developed a hairline crack that has led to liquid seeping into and ruining the electric heating element.
I didn't notice the crack because the ceramic is covered in crackling, which is normal. I had noticed that there was liquid getting under the ceramic insert, but I thought it was due to my spilling when I was ladling out the contents. I scrubbed out that burnt liquid 3 times before the leak became severe enough that it has now ruined the unit entirely. It won't even turn on now.
The warranty is for only 1 year, which is pretty disappointing for an expensive All-Clad product.
So save your money, unless you don't mind tossing the whole thing after 2 years
Have had the All-Clad Crockpot for almost 2 years and have to say this is the cadillac of all crock pots. I have had at least 5 crockpots that cook on high while on low. Would come home and have my meal burned. That is why I decided to pay more than $29.99 for a crock.
I can brown my meat in the crock and put it in the pot. So clean up is just the dicing of veggies to add to the crock pot. EASY-EASY-EASY.
If you cook alot or want to make sure your meal will be cooked the way you expected it to in a crock pot, I suggest you pay the low price that is offered and enjoy your meals.
When I bought the crock pot it didn't have a see thru lid which I am going to find
I just received my slow cooker and have only used it once. More than satisfied with outcome and look forward to many more uses during the winter months. I love the ability to pre-set the cook time and the ""keep warm"" feature along with the capacity of the cooker
I have owned several brands over the years. This is by quite worth the price tag. It can be preset and it seems to cook at the temperature indicated:i.e., low and high. My other crockpots never got hot enough when needed. I bought this on sale during the Christmas sales and used it yesterday for the first time. My Roast came out perfect, along with all the veggies. I really recommend putting out the extra dollars for this cooker
I use slow cookers a lot! And I can't express how much I love this slow cooker. It is expensive but it is worth every penny. I know this may sound crazy but recipes that I have made for years actually taste better. I purchased the model with a metal pan vs. ceramic insert. I don't know if it is because you brown the meat and then slow cook it in the same pan or what but it is WONDERFUL!!
Used it twice - both times the meat turned out tough. One time I also cooked the same recipe in my older slow cooker (same cut of meat, same everything) at the same time and that one turned out falling-apart perfect. I don't think the lid fits flush, which might have something to do with it. Regardless, I'm returning it. It's beautiful, but you don't use a slow cooker for 8 hours to get a tough lump of meat.
I have used all clad cook ware in the past and it is a versatile product. Needed a larger slow cooker with a ceramic insert. All Clad makes exceptional cookware and i would stand by their products and the price is well worth the years that i will have enjoying this product.
What is the quart capacity? Can I remove the insert and brown or sear meat in it on my cooktop prior to the slow cooking stage?Or does this allow for searing and browning within the slow cooker?Does this have a roast option?Thank you

Best Answer:That is completely untrue for this item. It's ceramic, and cannot be used on top of the stove.
Yes! The insert goes directly on the stove and browns meats and vegies beautifully, then fits directly in the main unit for slow cooking. There is not a separate setting for roasting, but you can slow cook a large cut of meat with sufficient sauce in this slow cooker
Best Answer:Offers up to 26 hours of continuous cook time. Integrated digital control panel with three temperature settings (high/low/warm). Stainless steel housing with riveted cast stainless steel handles. Dishwasher-safe ceramic insert and glass lid. While All-Clads Stainless Steel Cookware line is made in the USA this slow cooker is actually manufactured in China. It is held to the highest standards of quality and safety
Can you set a timer or auto shut off for this slow cooker?
A shopper on Sep 22, 2014
Best Answer:This slow cooker can be set on High from 2 to 8 hours & on Low from 4 to 20 hours. When the cooking time has completed, it will automatically switch to Warm, and will stay on this setting up to 6 hours, at which point it will shut off.
It is a ceramic insert so it does not add that much weight...the whole unit is about 20 pounds. It is stainless steel and ceramic- so, it will heat more evenly and retain more heat than an aluminum slow cooker. Try it out
I bought this slow cooker a week ago by online and tried yesterday the receipt "Hearty Tuscan Beef Stew". I set the slow cooker to high, add oil and heat until the oil is shimmering as directed. It did not heat up and wait for nearly 30 min and still oil was not shimmering. It just does not get hot enough. I cooked everything by frying pan and put them in the slow cooker. I added wine as directed and cooked "high". It took nearly 30 mini to get boiling. Is it usual or my cooker is defect?
Best Answer:No, your slow cooker doesn't have a defect. I believe the recipe on our website was made for a previous model slow cooker that had a different insert. Using the slow cooker that you own, the results are likely to vary.
Several recipes I use say ""High for 2 hours, then low or 4"", or something similar. Does this slow cooker have the capability to set a timer like this? And if so, does it switch to Warm automatically after the Low timer has concluded
A shopper on Sep 22, 2013
Best Answer:Although it will switch to the warm setting when the cook time has concluded, it cannot be programmed to switch settings during cooking time. This must be done manually
I've read that some inserts can be used on the stovetop for a quick cooking of some of the ingredients and then finished in the crockpot. Is this true for this model? If not, is there a model that does this
A shopper on Nov 29, 2013
Best Answer:No the ceramic insert can NOT be used on the stove top. Only the model with a metal insert can be used on the stove top.
I read a review that said you couldn't program it on high for longer than 6 hours. This was a couple of years ago, and I'm wondering if they've fixed that since some people (at least the reviewers) thought this was a distinct disadvantage

Best Answer:This slow cooker can be programmed on high for 2 to 6 hours.
Why did SLT advertise this as a ""staff favorite"" when so many reviews online and even one review on SLT point to defects in the ceramic insert
Has this defect since been corrected such that SLT believes this to be a superior product now?I don't want to buy a product to last a year only, and both the warranty from AllClad and the SLT return policy only allow 1 year
A shopper on Feb 1, 2014
Best Answer:This slow cooker is listed as a staff favorite because it has been given a 5 star review by a memeber of the SLT staff that owns and and enjoys it.
