I love these tongs so much I use them for just about everything. The silicone is so much better than the nylon ones I had before that started melting and chipping off chunks of nylon into my food. I have never had any problems with melting (and I frequently leave them sitting in a hot pan with the food) and the locking is a great feature. The lock is so easy, I usually just hit it on the back of my arm as I am moving toward the stove and it unlocks, then I just pull the loop on top to lock it so I can set it down between the burners on my stove. These tongs and their larger brethren have become my most used cooking tools. The silicone tips are strong and stiff enough that one can pick up even a slippery three pound piece of meat and place it gently in a hot cast iron braising pan, and with the silicone there is no worry about melting the tips or scratching the cooking surface. With the silicone pads up the handles one can even (carefully) brace the handles on the edge of an enameled cast iron pot to retrieve a braised piece of meat without worrying about chipping the enamel. The small tongs are one of the easiest ways to serve many cooked vegetables. Routine cleanup is usually one pass through the tap with a drop of detergent, and the only time I have wanted to use the dishwasher was after a nasty grease spatter, which has been the only time the interior of the handles needed extra help
I bought 2 of these in different colors and sizes. They wash up great in the dishwasher and are nice think plastic around very sturdy metal. Some tongs tend to be loose and cheap but these appear to be good quality and love the bright colors!!
I do not know the exact temperature range for this particular silicone, but I would expect for any predictable cooking situation, material breakdown should not be a concern. I have used them fairly vigorously or an overheated smoking hot cast iron skillet without problem. It would probably require grabbing a red hot electrical element or placing them in an open flame to put them at risk

In a near perfect world the implements we use on a daily basis at home would all be manufactured by fellow citizens close to home, however in a global economy such is no longer the case. As I have now purchased several stainless steel utensils recently under the Sur la Table, Rosle, All Clad and Williams Sonoma brand names, I have been impressed that Chinese silicone and stainless steel fabricators can produce products whose quality would be difficult to surpass
