Staub: So glad I waited to collect this iron
For years I've been wanting to collect an enameled suite of cast iron. I'm very partial to the burgundy and dark red, but the Le Creuset palette just didn't suit me. I stumbled onto Staub during my first visit to SLT. I instantly fell in love with the Grenadine!! I waited to do research, but I should've just asked my Omaha associate Aaron right away and I would've had my 6.5qt shallow cocotte much sooner. All of the features listed are true, but what they don't mention is that the loop handles are much wider than Le Creuset and are more ergonomically designed to fit your gloved hand better. The interior finish is just as amazing as the exterior and the heat retention is unmatched. I just held a garage sale and cleaned out my house, especially the kitchen so I will definitely purchasing more of this line. If you're looking for fire-engine red, buy the cherry. If you're partial to purple, the aubergine is for you. If you're like me and love ruby red slippers or a great glass of red wine, Grenadine is your color!

And let me just say Thank You to my Omaha store because when I was giving my cocotte its first bath and took off the stickers as I was instructed it damaged the finish (pretty sure I got a one-of-a-kind-lemon), I worked with Aaron and Ben and I had a new cocotte the very next day. I live 4 hours away!!! These guys are wonderful, knowledgeable, and helpful. SLT of Omaha just became my new favorite store

The best and most frequently used item in my Kitchen
These pots are amazing. We have a 5qt and a 9qt. From slow cooking and braising pork shoulders, briskets, and short ribs to making soups, greens, chicken dishes, these pots can handle pretty much anything.
If you're looking to cook tender meat dishes, there is nothing I've found better than these pots. The ability to go from high heat stove top to oven braising is great is very useful.

Enhances the pleasure of cooking
I love to cook, and when you have the luxury of doing it with the best possible tools, it is even more enjoyable. I started with Le Creuset, but once I tried a Staub, I was hooked. They seem to heat more evenly than any other cookware I've used. The black enameled interior makes it so that food doesn't stick, and the bottoms don't become stained over time.

The most recent addition to my collection is the Grenadine 9-quart, and it is a beauty. I bought it primarily to make soups and stews, but I find that even though it is very big, it works well for many purposes, and I find myself reaching for it often. It gives your arms a good workout, but it is well worth it :) This is an investment piece, and I could not be happier with all of the pieces in my Staub collection. The Grenadine color is just breathtaking in person. It is a deep, shiny, sophisticated dark red shade. Be sure to get the wonderful replacement knobs as well (snail, fish, rooster) because they really are a great finishing touch to these pieces, which are really works of highly usable art.

It was a good price and appears from reviews to be a quality item. I have always wanted a Dutch oven. I also love the color.

What are the dimensions for the 5 and 7 qt?
Michelle P on Feb 2, 2015
Best Answer: Well, the NINE quart is 11.75 inches interior diameter at the top (with a slight taper to the bottom), and 5.25 inches deep. The packaging states, FYI, that the volume is 8.35 liters. It's a very nice item.

(I know you asked about the smaller sizes, but I only have the big one.)

What is the difference between the Staub Cocoette and the Coq Au Vin? Not sure which one to get.
A shopper on Oct 24, 2015
Best Answer: They are made the same way and will provide the same level of quality cooking. It really depends on how you think you will use them. The Coq au Vin is an oval shape - and will be a better fitting pan for poultry or oblong roasts where you might want a tight fit. But the other pan will work as well - as long as its big enough to fit what you want to cook. I own both and alter between them depending on what I am cooking. I hope that helps. I really think that these pans are great and well worth the investment.
