Shun Bob Kramer 7-Piece Block Set

Certified as a Master Bladesmith by the American Bladesmith Society, Bob Kramer is one of the only Master Bladesmiths in the world specializing in kitchen cutlery. Cook’s Illustrated once wrote: “The Kramer knife outperformed every knife we’ve ever rated.” Put simply, Kramer is King of the Kitchen Knife. Saveur dubbed Bob “The Master of the Blade.”

Enthusiasts will wait up to three years for one of his handmade originals, but we collaborated with Bob and Shun to bring you this exclusive collection. Each knife is an exactingly crafted replica of a Kramer original, from the patterned Damascus-steel blades to the natural feel of the rounded PakkaWood® handles and the detailed center pins.

Each knife is crafted by 150 expert artisans to achieve the precise heft, balance, and shape of Bob Kramer’s original design. The 3mm steel blades are composed of an SG2 core (64–66 Rockwell) clad with true pattern-welded nickel and Damascus stainless steel for beautiful, razor-sharp blades and lasting edges.

Gently rounded and richly grained red and black PakkaWood handles are crafted in Bob’s signature contoured shape, which mirrors the curve of the palm for a wonderfully natural hand feel.

The elegant Shun Bob Kramer 7-piece set features the essential knives you need to create a lifetime of delicious meals, including: 3¼" paring knife, 4¾" utility knife, 7" santoku knife, 8" chef’s knife, and 10" bread knife, along with a honing steel and an easel-style bamboo storage block. Hand wash. Limited lifetime warranty. Handcrafted in Japan.

Free sharpening on all Shun cutlery for as long as you own it. Click for details

SHUN BOB KRAMER 7-PIECE BLOCK SET INCLUDES:

3¼" PARING KNIFE
Ideal for peeling, coring, trimming, decorating, and other detail work. Generally, you’ll use this knife in your hand rather than against a cutting board, though paring knives can also be used for chopping small foods, such as garlic cloves.

4¾" UTILITY KNIFE Great for a multitude of small tasks where more precise cuts are needed, such as trimming broccoli, green beans or other smaller vegetables. The utility knife is sometimes called a sandwich knife because it works well on almost everything that goes into a sandwich—from thin-skinned vegetables such as tomatoes, to meats and cheeses.

7" SANTOKU KNIFE
Santoku means “three virtues” in Japanese and this knife gets its name for the three strengths it demonstrates in the kitchen: slicing fish, cutting meat and chopping vegetables. Plus, the sharp-pointed tip is great for scoring.

8" CHEF’S KNIFE
This powerful kitchen multi-tasker is perfect for slicing, dicing and chopping large quantities of fruits, vegetables, meats and more. The wide blade keeps knuckles off the cutting board and is extra handy when transferring cut food from board to pan.

10" BREAD KNIFE
Whether your bread is delicately tender or wonderfully crusty, the Shun Bob Kramer bread knife, with its wide, low-frequency serrations, is up to the task. Gently saw back and forth to cut perfect slices with no unsightly rips or tears.

HONING STEEL
Enables you to maintain the razor-sharp edges of your Shun Bob Kramer knives.

EASEL-STYLE BAMBOO STORAGE BLOCK
Displays your elegant cutlery, keeping knives safe and secure between uses. Features nine slots, enabling you to easily expand your collection.

DESIGNED BY MASTER BLADESMITH BOB KRAMER
Cutlery enthusiasts will wait up to three years for one of Bob Kramer’s handmade originals, but we collaborated with Bob and Shun to bring you this exclusive new collection—each knife is an exactingly crafted replica of a Kramer original.

ATTENTION TO DETAIL
Each knife is painstakingly crafted by 150 expert artisans to achieve the precise heft, balance, and shape of Bob Kramer’s original design.

RAZOR–SHARP, LASTING EDGES
The 3mm steel blade is composed of an SG2 core that’s hardened to a 64–66 Rockwell. All the elements in this exotic Japanese powdered steel are evenly blended, eliminating weak spots or imperfections. Core is clad with true pattern-welded nickel and Damascus steel for an exceedingly sharp, smooth, and lasting edge.

BEAUTIFUL DAMASCUS PATTERN
Pattern-welded blade features an elegant, waved pattern that’s unique to each knife. In addition to its beauty, the Damascus steel protects and supports the extremely hard cutting core and helps the blade glide through food more smoothly.

ERGONOMIC PAKKAWOOD HANDLE
Gently rounded and richly grained red and black handles are crafted in Bob’s signature contoured shape, which mirrors the curve of the palm for a wonderfully natural hand feel. Made of moisture-resistant PakkaWood—a fused blend of hardwood veneers and phenolic resin.

Bob Kramer knifes
I recently purchased my first Kramer knife and once you have one it is hard to use anything else. It fits perfectly in your hand and cuts with ease. If you love quality knifes try a Kramer knife it is worth it.

Great Knives
I love these knives! I first owned a shun knife about a year ago, and decided I would start a new knife collection. This set went on sale, so I decided to buy the set. I prefer the brand Shun over Zwilling J.A. Henckels (because they haven't stood behind their warranty in my case). I'm so glad I purchased this set. The feel of the knives are perfect: They are not to heavy; the shape of the handle and the way it attaches to the blade allows for easy cutting with no hand cramping or weird finger bruising when cutting a lot. The curve of each blade allows for a softer chop which helps the wrist when chopping a lot. The carved design on the blades do help a little as far as food sticking to the knife - not a lot, but a little. The only thing I don't like about the set is the wood block is large. I can't pull a knife out of the block when it was under my upper cabinets

Very disappointed
Within 2 weeks, 2 of my knives have chipped - 3 1/2 inch utlity tip has completely broken off and the paring knife has deep chips in the blade. I have only used them on a bamboo cutting board and hand washed and hand dried them immediately after each use. These knives will need to be sharpened prior to EACH use as they dull quickly. I regret exchanging my carbon blade for these knives, although they are very pretty to look at! I am returning the damaged knives for replacement and will just know that I have to sharpen them each time...and if more break, I will return the entire set

Master Knives
This is by far the best set of knives I have ever owned. They are beautiful, easy to hold, and extremely sharp. I have had many carbon knives in the past, but these are considerably sharper. Like all very sharp knives, they need to be well attended and constantly sharpened to maintain that razor edge. If they are chipping, you are not using them properly; you are either using them on too hard a material (i.e. butternut squash) or are stressing them. The only drawback is you need to be very careful to not cut yourself with them
