great for dutch oven bread baking
I use my 5.5 quart le creuset dutch oven to bake bread, which requires temperatures of up to 500 degrees. I purchased this knob so that I wouldn't have to keep removing the phenolic knob every time I wanted to bake, and then replace it every time I had to cook. This stainless steel knob is a one-time replacement that will extend the usage of your pot and last for the entire lifetime of use

Perfect
This knob works great, is easy to install and looks awesome. I much prefer this metal knob to the composite material of the standard knob. Both functional and good looking. A

Kitchen bling!
This is a great way to not only avoid any worry about the standard knob's durability or heat tolerance, but also to bling out your Le Creuset. Looks fantastic, and makes a great stocking stuffer

okay knob
This knob is a nice touch to my 1 qt LeCrueset palm cocotte. It dresses the cocotte up very nicely. My only wish is that LeCreuset would make the knobs with a stronger and slightly heavier material making them more solid.

I want to make bread with my Le Creuset and my knob is plastic and will melt in the oven.

This stainless steel knob is easily substituted for the black knob on Le Creuset cookware. It's necessary for cooking in the oven at temperatures higher than low to medium. The black knob will not withstand that heat. Many dishes are started on the stovetop and then finished inside the oven.

This is why I created this order: I need a SS handle for my le Cruset dutch oven so I can make no-knead bread and use up a box of flax I bought. Everything else on the order was to get free shipping. Does this make sense?
James A on Jul 6, 2016

I use my Creuset dutch oven to bake the "5 minute artisan bread". Every time I use my dutch oven in the oven I need to remove the knob. I just bought knobs to replace the original ones.

Susan H on Nov 25, 2014
This replacement knob will allow me to place my Dutch oven in the oven at any temperature without removal. Removing a super hot lid without a knob just seems like an accident waiting to happen. I'm so grateful Le Creuset has made this an option.

Will this knob fit the 31/2 qt wide oval french oven?
A shopper on Apr 11, 2011
BEST ANSWER: Durable 18/10 stainless-steel knob withstands higher temperatures than traditional phenolic knobs. Knob comes with a screw for quick and easy assembly, and gives a fresh contemporary look to your favorite Le Creuset cookware. Designed to fit Le Creuset lids 9"" or larger so it will fit the 3 1/2 quart wide oval french oven without any problems as the dimensions for the oval oven lid are 11 X 8
Do you sell the original replacement knobs?
A shopper on Feb 10, 2011
BEST ANSWER: not the original black knobs but we to have the replacment stainless steel ones in the store!
I just bought a 3.5 qt. braiser and the medium stainless knob I bought seems too small. Can you help me figure this out?
Nancy N on Feb 17, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The large stainless steel knob is a better fit for the diameter and weight of the 3.5 qt (#30) braiser. One method to determine size is to measure the diameter and comfort of use of the existing knob. A large knob on the lid of the braiser will no longer nestle upside down into the base for storage; a protective cushion is recommended to avoid scratching the enamel. As for safe handling, stainless steel knobs get hot both with stove top cooking and in the oven.
