The best at doing what it does
This is hands down the best grater I have ever used. I use it primarily to zest lemons and oranges, but it also sees fairly regular use as a cheese grater. Grating is quick and easy and works without a ton of pressure against the grating surface.

A quick word of warning: this thing is crazy sharp. It can and will take chunks out of you if you don't treat it with respect. Start grating with light pressure and only increase as necessary and you shouldn't have any issues

Best zester ever
I bought this zester about a year ago, after it being recommended in the store. I've since raved to several friends about how great it is. Its sharp, but its safe since the sharp part is one-directional. Its also incredibly easy to clean. I'd recommend this to anyone who intends to zest lemons or grate Parmesan cheese

a kitchen must have!
Microplane is a tool no kitchen should be without! I use mine for citrus, cheese, chocolate...the list goes on! Great soft handle, cleans up quickly

The Standard.
A must have, versatile zester/grater. The standard in the professional kitchen, microplane does it how it should be done. From zesting citrus to grating nutmeg and cinnamon sticks and back again without dulling or failing. Parmesan, mozzerella, provolone, cheddar... If it can be grated, zested, or turned into fine shavings, microplane can do it.

Do yourself a favor and get the one with a handle ;

Great product and excellent price
I can't praise this Microplane zester grater enough! I've owned mine for well over a year now and it is an excellent product: super sharp, very easy to clean, does not take a lot of space, and....well...yes, it even looks cool.
The hole in the handle lets you hang it on a hook, which is very convenient if you don't have lots of counter/drawers space like me.
It works great with any kind of citrus, but I also use it to grate parmigiano cheese. I definetly recommend it. Microplane rocks

Love it!
I was so happy to finally buy one of these as I have never owned a zester/grater before. It works so well and I love that it comes with a protective cover.

Wow!
This is a fantastic zester. I purchased this for a Mother's Day feast I was having and I used it for my lemons but also for my fresh nutmeg! It feels great in your hand, the weight of the zester is just right and the cover is really nice. Great tool

Soft Handle!
I've been stuck on microplane graters since I've been cooking. The small area allows you a lot of flexibility to zest citrus or hard cheese. Since my toddler became addicted to
parmesan, replacing my original planer with this soft handle has helped tremendously. Although the size of the planer makes for easy storage, it can clip your skin off fairly easily, so I would suggest you keep it covered during storage.

BEST ANSWER: This particular zester does come with an opaque plastic cover to protect knuckles and fingers when stored away in a drawer.

The last time it said it came with a plastic cover was back in 2013. It is now July 2015. Can you please confirm this comes with a plastic protective storage cover?

BEST ANSWER: Mine came with the cover, which I appreciate so I don't grate any fingers getting other things out of the utensil drawer! Brought it last June-July. And do love it; makes grating lemon zest and any cheese so easy.

BEST ANSWER: I don't know if it is considered "dishwasher safe," but I have run mine through the dishwasher many times and it is still working well. This is an amazing kitchen tool.

This item is made in the USA, and then assembled in Mexico and it is held to the highest standards of quality and safety.
I purchased mine before they came with the plastic case. Can I buy a case now?

Does the cover snap on over the the front only or fit over the whole item like the sheath on a sword?

BEST ANSWER: It's "U" shaped, so that it covers the front then wraps around each side to the back. Not exactly like the sheath of a sword, but protects the front and sides completely and the back is partially covered.
I love my zester but I am sorry to say I do not know what the little clear plastic thing that fits over the blade is used for? Sorry I would really like to know. (not the cover)

BEST ANSWER: The plastic cover is a safety feature. It will keep the edges sharp and keep you from raking your knuckles across the surface of the plane if your equipment drawer is a bit untidy. Ii suggest your micro-plane be completely dry before easing the cover in place to minimize any chance of rust or bacterial growth.
