Keeps flour fresh
Let me begin by saying that I have 5 of the red pieces from this line in my kitchen, so even though my star rating isn't the highest, I clearly am a fan. Even without an airtight seal, I use what I store in the canisters quickly enough to have never had a problem (even coffee probably because that canister is rather small). A couple of caveats are to make sure there aren't any hairline cracks or chips when you choose your canister -- this line seems prone to issues from the get-go -- and they do need to be handled carefully. My salt box was chipped when I knocked a pot against it, and while it was easily remedied with a red Sharpie and clear nail polish it is worth mentioning that you will want to treat them with care. Lastly, when you wash them you will hear occasional ""cracking"" sounds as the piece dries. This can be worrisome, but as long as you don't use super hot water the glazing should remain intact (mine has had no problems)
Is this a four quart (or larger) canister? Will it hold 5 lbs of flour?

Best Answer:We actually use one of these in our Call Center to hold sugar. I'm confident in telling you it can hold 5lbs of flour, because we put 5lbs of sugar in it.It stands in 7 1/4"" tall and has a 6 1/4"" diameter
I ordered the sugar and coffee canister 4 months ago and was told that the flour canister would be back in stock in august. can that be confirmed? is there a date yet?
