First and foremost these tongs are built very solid. The sheet metal to make these is thick and sturdy. They aren't a set that you're going to bend unless you're jumping up and down on them.
Secondly, for those who hand wash their utensils like I do, these are designed where they are easy to clean. Some have channels where it is so difficult to clean down the channel that it makes you want to throw them. Others have little holes in the end of the tongs that get chunks of food in them that are a pain to clean out. On this set, the channels are shallow and easy to clean out. And the holes at the end of the tongs that trap food in them are all gone.
Third, these tongs are easy to open and close. They stay closed when you close them, making them easy to put in your kitchen tool container without having to worry about them springing open. When I was in the store checking these tongs out I was seriously confused as to how to open and close them. The only figure instructions attached to the tongs was in another language. But then a store clerk showed me how they worked and I loved them. To open a closed set of tongs, hold the tongs point down and squeeze. To close, hold the tongs point up and squeeze closed.
Lastly, the end of the tongs are coated with a silicone coating that will withstand temperatures of up to 500F or 260C. And the end of the tongs won't scratch the inside of your non-stick pans.
These tongs are everything I was looking for in a set of tongs. Kudos to Rosle for designing a great product
The price is steep but once you use these tongs you will see why. A solid utensil and with the thick coating on the tips, they will not scratch your pans, and with the tips you have great control to be able to flip or move items in your pan. I use these in preparing most of my meals
First, the silicone coating on the ends is so thick that I find it difficult to use them to pick up small or delicate items in the pan. I've had multiple experiences with things like shrimp or sliced sausages over-cooking as I struggled to grasp the little pieces to turn them over or take them out.
Second, despite using every trick I know to clean them, the silicone tips hold onto the smell of everything they've been used to cook. It's really unpleasant to use them by now, so I don't.
