Meh.
I have been thoroughly impressed by most of SLT's books, but this one fell short for me. It is just tips about different items and foods commonly found in kitchens. I was expecting to read it but found myself getting bored, so I tried looking up a few topics I was confounded by recently and none of them were in there. I am sure I will find a use for it eventually, but so far not so good

The Christmas Gift of 2011
I think this is a great little book! It has wonderful, short, concise answers to just about anything you could think of to ask! It's going to be my ""gift of the year""

Great present for the inexperience cook
I gave this book to my daughter-in-law for Christmas. She was never taught anything about cooking growing up. She said ""This book is written for me!"" She loves it and now she know what terms mean and what kind of cooks tools to use
