Works well and looks terrific !
Boos Board Cream is an all-natural ointment for all types of wooden cutting boards and prep surfaces - revives their finish to that of a brand new board and prevents cracking and warping - leaves hands & nails well moisturized too !

indispensible for board performance
This product has done wonders for the surface of an end grain maple cutting board. After using it daily for a week on a new board and weekly thereafter, the board beads water like a new car, onion and garlic no longer penetrate, and cleanup is with a damp paper towel, no detergent required for fruits and vegetables

Tale of Two Cities
This worked like magic on my Olive Wood cutting board. Not so great on the maple. I suspect possibly the quality of the wood is to blame--not the Boos. I'd buy more and give it another whirl...

Boos Board Cream
Use as directed and your cutting boards will be well protected. I was using just mineral oil before. Using the Cream plus the Mystery Oil is far better.

This is the thing to keep all cutting boards in great shape
The Boos Cream, as well as the oil, are great products to keep your cutting boards in wonderful shape. I understand the product also provides a 'cleaning' effect as well and does kill bacteria, but I can't state that for sure. I typically wipe the surface with light soap and water, rinse and pat dry. I then put on a good coating of the cream with a paper towel and allow it to be absorbed (usually overnight) and wipe off the excess. Intermittently, I use the oil as well. Both keep my boards looking great and ready for use.

Good stuff
I bought the oil and cream; the cream went on the cutting board and the oil went on the other tools. The Boos Block cutting board was a significant investment, so a few extra $$ for the cream is worth it!

Brought my neglected cutting board back to life
My poor cutting boards were looking ragged and dry after about a year of neglect. After one application, the wood has a deep rich color, lovely sheen, and is soft and smooth.

The board cream is much easier to apply than oil and it didn't take a lot to make a huge difference. Bonus: massage in whatever's left on your hands after application and you'll have nice soft skin too!

This cream (a mix of beeswax and mineral oil) works well to moisten wood -- it's much better than mineral oil I'd initially purchased at SLT, which still left my cutting board looking dry.

Do I need both the mystery oil and the wax

Want to purchase John Boos cutting boards. Which product is best?
A shopper on Nov 28, 2012
BEST ANSWER: The mystery oil is a blend of mineral, linseed and orange oils while the board cream is made of unbleached beeswax and a food-grade mineral oil. You do not need both to maintain your Boos product. The cream leaves a wax barrier on the product that locks the moisture in and kind of seals your board while the oil does not leave as effective of a barrier. That would be the biggest difference in the two (aside from the ingredients). Either one will work wonderfully
How often do you need to use these products every time you use a board or once a week or month?
LISA L on Jun 14, 2015
John Boos & Co. Board Cream
John Boos & Co. Board Cream
John Boos & Co. Mystery Oil
John Boos & Co. Mystery Oil
BEST ANSWER: I use my blocks several times during the day. Usually, I use the cream about once a month and leave it on the soak in overnight. As the board ages, it does not need as many cream applications. As you use cream or oil on your cutting board, you will be able to visually see a difference as the board dries out. When it gets the dry look, I put a coat of cream on it. I have tried both the oil and the cream and I prefer the cream.
Do you carry this product at the Berkeley location?
A shopper on Nov 11, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Yes, this cream is available at the Berkeley.
