"good for sauces, not for brushing thin layers"
This is good for tasks like slathering ribs in sauce, but it's not the ideal tool if you want to spread an even, thin layer of something (for example, applying an egg wash). The silicone bristles tend to create a streaky texture.

That said, cleanup is super easy and the bristles hold liquid well

GREAT BASTING BRUSH!!! NOT JUST FOR BARBEQUE USE!
This Basting brush is good for applying sauces to meat/poultry when grilling. The long wood handle protects your hand from the heat of the grill. The bristles ""hold"" the sauce as well as a ""traditional"" basting brush.

I particularily like using this brush for making garlic bread. I find that the silicone bristles clean up better than a traditional brush. They do not retain any smell after being washed in the dishwasher.

I have also used this brush for applying an egg wash to pastry with good results
