The light works great, but about 2 months after keeping it attached to my grill (under the grill cover and in the constant shade on my patio) one side of the plastic clamp started to weaken and ended up breaking off about a month after that. I still use the light, except now I prop it up on a plant stand that I've got next to the grill :
I like this light as it covers a big area on my grill surface. I leave it clamped on the grill handle with the cover on...it doesn't get wet this way and I like not having to put it away every time I use it.
The light portion of this product works fairly well, except when it's cold. If you get cold winters and you like to grill in the winter, you may find that the light just won't turn on when it's below freezing.
The clamp portion of this product works horrendously. It's flimsy and doesn't clamp well. The harder you try to clamp it down, the more it wants to bend out of shape and pop off the handle of the grill. It's the worst design and construction ever. I replaced the clamp with one from another light that I had from Brookstone where the clamp was great but the light wouldn't work, thinking I'd have the best of both worlds. The two parts didn't work perfectly together, but with some super glue and duct tape I had a pretty ugly but workable light.
Be sure to save your receipt in case this thing doesn't work for you. If you don't have parts from another light that will allow you to MacGuber it like I did, then you just need to return it and move on to something else
This seemed like a great gift for my grill-a-holic father. But on rounded handles, the crank to tighten the grip merely extrudes the rubber nubbins that hold it to the handle. End result- rubber bits fall out, light doesn't attach. This could be a function of weight- it's hefty given it's attachment mechanism
I saw this about 2 months ago at our local store. The sales people did not know how effective it would work (at least they were honest!), but I bought it anyway. My husband attached it to our grill with no problems. It is our only grill light and works quite well. Our surface is quite large (4 grilling zones) and we just leave it on the handle with no problem
The 3 separately angled lights on this item provide lots of light for my grill. I have a jenair grill and the clamp holds the light steady where I want it. The only thing I notice is if I slam the lid on the grill the light will fall.....as long as I don't slam the lid it's fine. I wouldn't really recommend leaving it outside though, I just take it off each time I'm done with it - it's not a hassle it's just one screw
I got this as a present from my wife for Christmas. The light has 2 joints with 2 tightening screws. The first unit I received had one incorrect part - one of the nuts that the tightening screw screws into was a fine thread when it should have been a coarse thread, so that joint could not be tightened. I sent that unit back, and 3 weeks later I received a replacement. This second unit had both joints defective, since both of the nuts were of the wrong type. I'm sending the second unit back and asking for our money back.
I have bought two of these lights and both are not working. I literally just opened a brand new pack of C batteries and have tried 8 batteries so far in two different lights, both ways and the light is still not turning on?
I put 1 C battery in and it stopped about 1/3 of the way down the chamber. I don't want to force it in because I don't feel that I will ever get it out. Is this normal?

Best Answer:No, this is NOT normal. Remove and try again. If it continues to stick check for any obstruction and clear it if possible. May need to return to store and get a replacement if you cannot fix it. Hope this helps.
Mine works very well except the clamp to hold it to the grill does not work very well with smooth stainless steel surfaces. The light is very bright and I do like it. Just wish the clamp had a better design.
The battery compartment is very tight but I did force the battery. I immediately tried to get it out. It did come out with some effort. I love the light though it doesn't want to hold into my handle tightly. I added a strip of rubber and it fits nicely now.
