I didn't realize how much of a positive impact a warm cup makes until I had my first espresso drink in a nice, warm mug. It was a fabulous experience! I began heating my cups in the oven on warm (170-degrees) for several minutes, or preheating them with hot water, but it takes time and forethought. My family noticed the effort, and decided to treat me to this fantastic indulgence. It makes me smile every day! If you need a little pampering in your daily routine, or are just a coffee snob, you will love this product! The only room for improvement is the ability to accommodate large and/or tall mugs. (An average-sized mug fits beautifully, but my more distinctive ones, like the big cappuccino cups or the Starbucks venti-sized mugs, or the stylized taller mugs don't fit. Not at all a deal-breaker for me, but something Jura might want to consider if they make any changes to a future model.) I find the Jura Cup Warmer to be the perfect compliment to my Jura J-9, and recommend both
The Euro version warms cups to a more appropriate level that USA versions, which are required by federal regulators to use less wattage. Less wattage translates as less heat and therefore, the cups are unfortunately just not warm enough.
The USA version uses less electricity (wattage) than the Euro version. Consequently, cup warming takes longer. I found that setting the timer to start the warming about one to two hours before you plan to make your first cup works best. I also will place my coffee filled cup back into the warmer if I am unable to consume the entire contents within a short period of time. That way the coffee stays a nice drinking temperature. When I am finished drinking coffee I turn off the warmer before the timer automatically turns it off to save electricity.
