Huge Fan!
This has become my go-to pan and the one I grab first for everything. I've had my Scanpan for two years and the non stick peforms as well as it did on day one.

I can't say enough great things about this cookware! It's really well made, heats fast, cooks evenly, and is so easy to clean. I love that I can not only cook an omelette perfectly every time, but that I can also brown and caramelize in this pan as well

Love this pan
I use the 8"" skillet every morning for my breakfast, and I can't say enough about it. I've used it just about every day for about a year, and finish is just as smooth as the day I bought it. It's super easy to clean and the nonstick surface is completely unparallelled.

All in all, it's a great pan for a great price

"Thought, I'd love it forever... I was wrong."
I have never in my life purchased a ""quality"" piece of cookwear. A boxed set from Target or Macy's (on sale) was what I was used to. Used cheap ""non-stick"" as well as stainless steal.

Then my life changed for ever! I entered Sur La table in Santa Monica and while looking for an affordable non stick pan, the sales associate told me about Scanpan. She claimed she has had her pan for almost 5 years, doesnt even use oil or butter because the pan is so amazingly non stick, and that she doesnt even wash it. She wipes it clean with some paper towel and its done. She boasted about how amazing this pan was and I figured if I can get that kind of performance from a pan it was worth the money.

The first day using this pan, I almost divorced my wife and asked the pan to marry me. It was the most amazing cooking experience I've ever had. Like the sales woman, I didnt wash it. Just wet it and used some paper towel to wipe clean. Nothing stuck to this pan! I rarely used metal utensils except to spread coconut oil or butter every once in a while, not because it was needed for non stick factor but for flavoring in the food.

I used the pan every day sometimes twice a day for 6 months. Then one day I noticed that food was starting to stick a bit. (Even while using butter or coconut oil) It was no biggie, it wasn't much and the pan still worked better than anything else I have ever used.

Then out of the blue food started to stick like crazy, especially my eggs. Which is a huge pain in the butt! No matter how much butter or oil I used after every use the pan had major food debris stuck to it. (burned on even in low to medium heat)

I refuse to use Steal Wool on it to get it clean because I dont want to mess up the pan, but cleaning now has become a HUGE problem and cooking is just as annoying as it was with my cheap target cookwear.

I will be returning this pan for another one in hopes that it was defected or something, but until I see for myself that this pan at this price can last more than a year I cant recommend it to anyone

Best Pan Ever!
I LOVE THESE PANS!! I have the 8"" and the 12"" skillets, and I have used them almost every day since I bought them. Some non-stick pans will discolor your food...but not Scanpan! Super easy to use, and clean. They are always my ""go to"" pans

Great Skillet!
I have been an SLT employee for ten years, and this is hands-down the best nonstick pan I have ever used. I have three sizes, and I use at least one every day. I love that they are scratch resistant and dishwasher safe, too. One of the best investments I have made in my kitchen

Excellent product
I have the 8"" and 12"" skillet. Originally my goal was to buy a non-Teflon, non-stick pan. I first purchased the 8"" skillet and glass cover. My experience with the pan has been amazing. I can now fry an egg using just a little water and the glass over! Heat the pan up, crack an egg in it. Wait till it starts turning white, put in a few tablespoons of water, cover the pan and after a few minutes, - a nice, perfect egg over easy! No burned brown bottoms of fried eggs and they just slide right out of the pan. I used this pan consistently for a few weeks to see if the surface would wear or change. It didn't. So I went and bought the 12"" skillet and lid. Next I cooked a big rib-eye steak. It browned perfectly and looked just like it came off an outdoor griddle. The heat dispersion of the pan is excellent - even and constant - a mark of a great design. The pans are on the pricier side but they are worth every penny

Perfect for eggs
I love eggs and love them sunny side up, so having a glass lid is crucial. The first time I used it, I decided to put it to the test and not use any oil, butter or water. The egg cooked nicely, and slid off the pan without using a utensil, but a little butter definitely tastes better :)

Definitely the best nonstick I've used to-date

This pan is perfect for no-oil cooking
I have been cooking without adding oil for the past 6 months. I have been searching for a non-stick pan that is environmentally safe and that does not have a ""coating"" that will break down. This pan meets those criteria. Plus it is perfect for browning onions, celery and carrots or mushrooms without any additional fat. I have just ordered the 4 qt. saucepan also. Of course, an added bonus is that clean-up is just a breeze

Long-time user
Been using 3 sizes of Scanpan fry pans for at least 7-8 years and believe them to be the best pan on the market. Their best feature is the pressure-cast aluminum bottom, which simply will not warp, even if very hot and placed under cold water. This feature alone makes them ideal for ceramic cooktops. The nonstick ceramic surface is not quite as nonstick as teflon, but is safe for metal utensils and only shows slight sticking when the pan gets old and the surface is damaged. Like any coated pan, the nonstick coating will eventually show wear, but with reasonable care these pans last for years. They also heat slowly and hold heat well because of the cast aluminum plate in the bottom. I use these pans daily, so they have had thousands of uses and are still going strong. I admittedly abuse them somewhat by sometimes running water into a hot pan and always using metal utensils, but even with this abuse, the coating holds up for at least 4 years. By then I feel I've gotten my money's worth and am willing to treat myself to a new set. One other selling point -- the ceramic coating has no known adverse health effects, unlike some other coatings like PFOA and PTFE. Incidentally, I have owned both Scanpan Classic and Scanpan Pro IQ pans and have found them to be equally good. Only the handles differ

Buy one
I don't like to write reviews about any product until I've had some time to use them for awhile. I bought 8"" after taking a look at quite a few other choices. Generally with non-sticks they don't last and begin to show wear quickly regardless of how you take care of them. My solution to this is to be a cheap one and just replace it after a year or two. Not exactly what I like to do but when the $100 lasts as long as $30 you get the point. Scanpan (which I had not heard of) seems to be holding up very well after 1 1/2 years of almost daily use for just about everything. I don't use metal in it and clean the bottom with bartenders friend and Brillo after every use. The bottom looks like new and the non-stick is in almost perfect shape. Just a sponge for cleaning on the non-stick surface will do the trick with some hot soapy water. In use I like how well you can control the heat on the pan rather quickly once it comes up to temperature and you can use it for almost every application.

Buy one and you'll love it

Hubby can't destroy it
We've had the wide range of those other 'non-stick' pans for ages. No matter what I said, my family and hubby in particular, always used metal utensils on them and I was forever replacing them and repeating ""Black on black, metal on metal.""

Decided to give Scanpan a try even though I was doubtful. Started with the 8"" pan and it quickly became the 'go to' pan for everything from eggs to grilled cheese. In fact, it just sits on top the range. No sense putting it away. It cleans up fast, doesn't stick, requires very little fat or oil (in fact none works well, too), and isn't bothered by metal spatulas at all. It feels solid, but not too heavy, and has a nice balance.

Here's something else about the pan besides the nonstick quality?it has a nice flat bottom. Even with the curved sides, there's good 'cook space.' Be aware though, for people who are upgrading from standard skillets, this one has a disk on the underside for even heating. What this means is that it takes longer to heat to searing temps. I usually just put a drop of water in it to see if the water beads and bounces to see when it's ready.

At first I hesitated because of the cost, but in the long run, it's definitely more cost effective to get a Scanpan than to keep replacing the cheaper pans that don't last as long or take a beating. I'm replacing all my skillets with Scanpan

AMAZING pan
I love this pan -- after dealing with traditional non-sticks... that don't always live up to their name.... the scanpan blows everyone away! The clean up is a breeze... with even heat distribution! Perfect pan for scrambled eggs!

don't waste your money
I received my Scanpan as a gift 2 years ago...it was a good pan at first but a few months ago I noticed the lining peeling away. I emailed the company as to what I can do for the lifetime warranty...ZERO response...peeled quicker than an over ripe banana....save your money and get a less expensive pan that will last longer than this Euro junk from an untrustworthy company

I'm a Scanpan Fan!
I currently own two, 12.5-inch Scanpan Classic skillets! And for the most part, I adore them! Cleanup on the cooking surface is a breeze; even with high-sugar sauces that would typically require the grace of God and Bar Keeper's Friend to remove from a stainless surface, I can practically wipe them out with a wet paper towel. In addition, I'm able to get a gorgeous, crusty sear on my chicken thighs, pork chops, and steaks.

So, why only four stars? Well, such fabulously easy clean-up does come with some caveats. There are a few tips not mentioned in the skillets' instruction manuals (or at least, in bold enough type to be noticed) that would dramatically reduce customer dissatisfaction:

1. Fantastic for high-heat cooking; just KNOW how to use it first. I was lucky enough to meet a Scanpan representative in-store before I purchased my skillet. And, given the nature of most nonstick, I wondered how to get a gorgeous sear on my steaks with using only medium heat. The Scanpan representative told me that when using high heat to PREHEAT the skillet for 90 SECONDS over MEDIUM HEAT first. This allows the skillet to come to temperature and prevents the pan from warping or the coating from flaking off.

2. When searing, use the water droplet test to gauge the skillet's temperature. I'm unsure of whether it's the dark color of the pan or the nature of nonstick skillets. but whenever I sear something, I can never see the wisps of smoke that indicate that the oil is at the perfect temperature. To remedy this, I just use the water droplet test: to check if the pan has come to temperature, I drop a small amount of water into the skillet. When it forms solid-looking "pearls" that slide around the pan's surface, I just add the oil, wait a minute or two, and then add my meat.

3. Scratch-RESISTANT, NOT Scratch-PROOF. While it is perfectly safe to use metal utensils on a Scanpan, you may notice some light scratches (or, as Scanpan refers to them, "scuff marks") after using them on a Scanpan. When I made a pan sauce and used a metal whisk on the skillet, I found a lot of scuff marks after washing the pan. While the cooking surface was in tact and as slick as ever, I was put off by the appearance. So, to keep your cookware aesthetically pleasing, be sure to use silicone, wood, or nylon utensils!

4. Do NOT use aerosol-based cooking sprays on these or any other nonstick cookware. Something in the aerosol leaves a build-up on nonstick skillets that will eventually degrade its nonstick properties.

Overall, I love these pans! If you were to just purchase two or three pieces of cookware, (My personal recommendations would be a 10.5" or 12.5" skillet, a 2.5 or 3.5 quart saucepan, and a 6 to 8-quart dutch oven, depending on your needs.) I'd recommend Scanpan wholeheartedly. Just keep the above recommendations in mind, and you'll have them for years to come.

No Rivets!
I love my 8"" Classic skillet. The nonstick surface is durable and super easy to clean, just like all the other Scanpans I own, but I'm partial to this one because it has a rivetless handle, ensuring that your cooking surface will consistently be as clean as it can be

Worked great, for a while...
I purchased this pan about 2 years ago after trying multiple cheapo non-stick pans. For the first several months, this pan worked like a charm - I could use a minimal amount of ghee/oil to cook with, since the non-stick actually worked! Within the last few months, however, I have had a LOT of trouble- no matter how much ghee/oil i use, my eggs stick to the pan every.single.time. I'm super bummed, and looking for a new alternative pan.

Use it every day
Oh my goodness, I don't know how I survived before getting this pan. My dish washing has decreased significantly and my food is much healthier because I use little to no fat. Love love love this pan and will be getting more! Once you get one, you're spoiled for life!
