Top notch mixer
I've had a KitchenAid stand mixer for 35 years [purchased new ones just to change the color] but they all still work! This one was purchased as a gift for my daughter as a wedding gift.

What is the difference between the 6500 Series Stand Mixer and the Artisan Stand Mixer? There is a $200 difference and I am wondering why I would want to splurge on the 6500 Series versus the standard Artisan one?

KitchenAid 6500 Series Stand Mixer with Glass Bowl, 6 qt.
Best Answer: Great question, it depends greatly on the jobs that you are going to ask the machine to do. If you are making double batches of cookies, large amounts of bread dough...you would want to consider the larger 6500. It has a bigger bowl and a more powerful motor. The 6500 also has the lift/lower feature for the bowl versus the tilting head on the Artisan. Hope that helps. Either way, you will own your KitchenAid for the rest of your life.

I've wanted this mixer for a long time now. The funny thing is I can't make up my mind what color to get it in. It's between the Empire Red, black or one of the grey shades. Any factors someone should consider when choosing a color?
A shopper on Sep 22, 2015
Best Answer: You should think about what will go best in your kitchen or just what you like the best! I got the grey. It look great in my kitchen and I love it. Also I would shop around SLT has a very high mark up. Check out other sites. I got mine for $75 less then way SLT is asking.

does it run on UK wattage volts?
A shopper on Jul 27, 2015
Best Answer: It comes with a standard US plug [110V, Europe runs on 220V]. You could possibly have it re-wired; I wouldn't suggest using voltage adapter.

Should I buy a larger mixer? What would the advantages be of a larger one?
A shopper on Dec 15, 2015
Best Answer: My KitchenAid is useful because of its size. It is amazing for the simplest things like whipping egg whites but it really shows its muscle for heavier batter kind of items. The sort of dense mixes that would burn up a lighter weight mixer. I do have one of those too, but I love my KitchenAid for how quickly and thoroughly it mixes up the heavier batters. Finally, I love the attachments. The one I've used and like is the meat grinder. Great way to use up roast leftovers of any kind from pork to beef to chicken.
