This mixer makes sense!
I have always considered myself a KitchenAid stand mixer girl, but ever since I test drove the Brevillle stand mixer, I fell in love with its unusual features - like the light-up dial indicator that tells you what the speed you choose actually does (like Stir, Mix, Beat, Aerate) and the count up timer with Pause feature (let's see, how many minutes have I been beating that meringue, let me stop the machine to test the batter - turn to pause - then start again, and the timer does not zero out so you can see when you have reached 5 minutes or whatever your recipe calls for. Or you can just set the timer for 5 minutes and it will stop when time is up) Plus the machine is so powerful, you may want to check things well before the suggested time - I found that Macarons whip up so well in this machine. It is also very easy to move from one surface to another (for those of you who hide your stand mixer) - it has a handle in the front and a hand grip in the back, meaning no more struggles to get it on the counter. But it is not so lightweight that it will bounce around your counter when kneading bread dough - no no this machine is a workhorse! Oh, and did I mention that the cord hides inside the machine - very tidy! and also it comes with a scraper beater blade (which you have to buy separately for the other mixer - it scrapes the sides and bottom of the bowl with its silicone edge as it mixes)

If you could fall in love with a Mixer . . .
this would be the one! Let me count the ways: easy to use, easy to clean, easy to store, very sturdy, great looking! Makes any mixing task a breeze and lets me know if I'm overworking it. I actually spend less time mixing, because it is so efficient and effortless. I wasn't too crazy about the cord storage, as I was nervous about getting it stuck inside. However, I use it so often, I just keep the cord out anyway. The spatula that comes with it wasn't the sturdiest, as I am heavy handed. I quickly remedied that by buying a iSi wide spatula, which works perfectly with horizontal and vertical scraping of the bowl. I'm a little lazy about using the detachable pouring shield, but when I need it, it works great. The built-in timer is a plus, as I can visually or auditorily keep track of how long I'm mixing. The dial keeps me on track to work up to my needed mixing speed, instead of starting too quickly and making a mess. I've had this for a few months, and I'm just as happy with it, as when I first used it

I decided to go with the Breville because I didn't need all the attachments that the KitchenAid offers and I'm so glad I did! I mainly use it for making bread and this has definitely made it easier. It has a nice slow knead option with a timer which I've found SO helpful. And the higher speeds will whip in no time. It's also super easy to clean. I usually forget to turn it off, but it goes to sleep after a couple minutes. I'm super excited to try out new recipes with my stand mixer

Wanted to love it
I wanted, so badly, to love this product. I had been searching for a stand mixer as our daughter has been wanting to bake every weekend, and it seemed like the next step. I did a lot of research and determined that, based on all the reviews, and the type of mixing we're likely to do, the Breville was the pick. So, I purchased one and immediately used my mother's bread recipe. My mom has been making this same recipe for 30 years - using a 30+ year old Braun mixer. Unfortunately, 4 cups of flour into the 8 cup recipe, the mixer over-heated and shut off. This is a nice feature, but rather annoying as I had to knead the rest of the recipe by hand. I followed the instructions to reset the mixer, but it continued to shake violently (w/o anything in the mixing bowl), and shut itself off. After doing some research, I was informed (by Breville) that no non-commercial mixer could make more than a single loaf of bread. So, I packaged the mixer up and returned it for a new one, expecting simply to remove breadmaking from it's tasks.

My new mixer (which looked so good, and the reviews were so positive, that I was certain it would be a staple in our kitchen for years, so much so that I tossed the packaging and the receipt) was great at the first thing we made: a frosting. The scraper blade is genius. However, following a simple white cake recipe caused the motor to overheat and shut off again. At this point I was very upset. If I can't make a cake batter, what's the point of the mixer?

Back it went and I popped for the KitchenAid 600. So far so good with that one.

Sorry, Breville, I wanted to love you, but we just are not compatible

Outstanding Machine
You will love this machine, very quiet, and the quailty is superb. I was a little skiddish when I first opened the box, but when you read the manual it is very easy to use. I am so glad I chose this mixer compared to the other popular brand

A great mixer for all but heavy doughs
This is a great little mixer. Many of the features are very well designed. Some thoughts on the mixer.

1. The bowl is a great size and shape and easily fits on and removes from the unit.

2. I like the count-down and count-up timer so you can set exactly how much time you want to mix for or figure out how much longer you still want to mix.

3. The speeds are marked very well. It helps you know which speed is to whisk, etc.

4. For a person using it for the first time, it is like second nature to tilt the head back. They definitely thought the ergonomics and tendencies of people through well.

5. All of the attachments are designed pretty well except for the dough hook. It has a rim at the top and the dough pushes up and gets caught on the rim. And the shape of the dough hook doesn't seem to knead the dough correctly.

6. The finger hole in the chord plug is awesome. It makes it much easier to pull out the plug, especially if your hands are slick.

7. The mixer does well on all but heavy doughs. It just doesn't seem to have enough power and tends to stall. It can however get you to the point where you can knead it the rest of the way by hand without a bunch of work.

I like this mixer a lot. Breville thought almost everything through very well. It just needs some more power and a better designed dough hook

Great stand mixer
I decided to purchase this after attending a cooking class at Sur La Table and the chef recommending it (& reading all the reviews). I like that it's not too heavy and great for mixing. I will agree that for heavy doughs, it does seem to have trouble handling it but for eveything else, I've had no problems

Love it
I bought this stand mixer (my first stand mixer ) for its looks, and it has also functioned very well. My boyfriend makes break with it, and does not knead the dough afterwards. It handles most tasks well from whipping cream in a minute to kneading pizza dough. It also looks good while doing it. I have had it for 6 months now and I am happy with it. It gets 4 stars for not having the option of pasta etc attachments; though I doubt I would use them or buy them, but I like having that option available.
