I have had this set for 6 months and I am so glad I bought it. I had been looking for a cookware set - most of mine were from my first marriage 20 years ago! I was trying to find out what I liked by buying individual pieces of cookware here & there. I originally bought the 2 qt straining saucepan - I loved it! I thought that pan was better than any of the pricier brands I had tried like All Clad and Calphalon. These pans don't just look great - they handle heat better than anything I have ever used AND they are designed brilliantly. I am still thrilled with my set and I've recommended them to everyone!
I wanted some quality non-stick after looking into ""green alternatives"" and finding they just didn't hold up past a few months. There are just 2 of us so the set didn't need to be large. So far I like the weight, heavy without being unmanageable for my older hands. The handles stay cool and I like the balance. Unlike other reviewers I find the smallest saute pan does balance okay with the handle weight, but is a bit delicate if your stove is not exactly level.
Design comments you may not note from photos or description:
The lids do not fit the saute pans but I have some old glass lids that will work when I need a lid. If you want lids for the saute pans they are 8"" and 9 1/2"" interior diameter at the top of the pan.
The smaller sauce pot does not have pour spouts or venting/draining holes. The steamer insert is just that and does not go down deep enough in the stock pot to use for say cooking and draining pasta.
While I still prefer to use my old cast iron and regular cookware for some things, dietary needs dictate the need for a non-stick set in my household. This works great
I have owned them for about 1 month. I think for the price, this is the best deal out there. The only complaint I have about this product is, we have an old stove. The burners do not sit even and the handle weights just enough that the pan always falls down to the handle. So when I saute something, I have to prop up the handle. If I put enough food in the pan, than it is fine. Besides that, I do love to cook with these pans. Never have to use oil except for flavor
This is a nice quality set with good features but it is VERY small. If you check out the photograph, look at the size of the pepper in the background in relation to the size of the saucepans.
The small saucepan is good for a hot chocolate and the larger one is good for heating up veggies but too small for boiling beans. I should have checked the sizes more carefully but this is still a keeper.
If you are looking for a fry pan the length of bacon strips for example this set is too small. The large stockpot, however, is a decent size and the steamer basket will be very useful.
All-in-all this is a perfect set for a small kitchen or for someone just starting out in need of everything. It is a good price and it looks great
I really like this set of pans but after ordering them online and on sale ($149) I found the set to be a bit small for a family of five.
So if you do a lot of cooking, think of this as a starter set. You will need additional 3-4 qt pans and a larger skillet/fry pan. Otherwise, this set is great for a basic addition to your pots and pans
I finally purchased a new set of cookware after realizing that the reason I love to cook at my sisters house is because she has great cookware and gadgets. So I researched and ordered this set. I love it, I love how it looks and cooks but especially how easy it is to clean up afterwards. The non stick really is non stick and makes cooking with little to no oil easy to do. Can't go wrong with this set
I gave this set to my daughter and future son in law. They love to cook and needed some quality cookware. This fit the bill. I have many pieces of this set which I love. The stay cool handles are great. But, if you cook with gas you might want to use a pot holder for the handles could get warm. The even cooking and the weight of the cookware is excellent. All that being said, I would not recommend this as the only cookware you use. Some of the pieces are small. It""s really excellent if you are a couple or one person. Also, if you are just starting out and need to start somewhere this is the set for you. Overall it's very nice
I've been very happy with this cookware since I bought it a year ago. The non-stick makes for super easy cleaning, everything is sturdy but not too heavy, and the combination of pans covers almost anything I might need to cook
I bought the skillet first to see if I liked the cookware and I was just blown away. Excellent heat control, easy to clean, cool touch handles. After a week of cooking with the skillet I ordered the entire set. I have loved this set since it arrived - would it be nice if I could throw this in the dishwasher to clean - yes, but it's so easy to just wipe out the dirty pots that I can overlook the handwash only requirement
This 10 piece set is an incredible value! Personally, I was looking to upgrade from my 12 year old Calphalon pots. The Sur la Table pots and pans are of a lighter weight and are truly non-stick. Yes, they are not the largest pots available, but if you read the description - you are getting exactly what is represented. I have been ordering from Sur la Table for over 6 years and have always been pleased with my orders; the shipping time and packaging has been exceptional
I was in the market for new pots and pans for over 6 months. I was looking for a good product AND a good deal. Well this is it!!! I just love my new set. I have no complaints. My pots and pans perform like a 500 dollar set
Bought these before having the family over for Christmas. Work very well for us, a young couple just starting out, but I was disappointed with how quickly they stained on the outside after just the first use. I echo other sentiments about the pieces being small. Works well for the two of us, but we have various other specialty pieces for entertaining.
Still, I would recommend them. Pretty nice set for the money
I bought the set last year on a nice sale. On the plus side, the pans are very non stick and easy to work with. On the negative side, the outside of the pans just don't clean up well. They quickly became unattractive and to me that makes them less satisfying to work with
WITH ALL THE VARIED PIECES, THERE'S NOT MUCH YOU CAN'T COOK WITH THIS SET. LOVE THE WEIGHT & NON STICK FEATURE W/ GLASS LIDS. NO LONGER CHECKING TO SEE WHAT'S HAPPENING UNDER THE LID WHICH LESSENS COOKING TIME. I DID ADD A FEW SPECIALIZED PIECES: STEAMER, SS SKILLET & FRITTATA PAN. COULDN'T ASK FOR MORE WITH THIS DURALE, WELL PRICED COOKWARE SET
After having my kitchen remodeled I felt the need for a new set of pots and pans, and much to my delight I picked the correct ones. These are terrific. I love the sizes, they are easy to clean, look great and their handles make them easy to pick up. What a great purchase! They would make a wonderful wedding gift. I assure you the bride and groom would love to receive these
This is a great set, but it is smaller than it appears on television. Great for a single person or two people. If you have more than three people, then you will need to have more pots & pans. Other than that, it is a great value and cooks very well
My husband and I are newly weds and needed a new set of cookware instead of our odds and ends. We are big cooks and wanted something that would last, but not break the bank. We bought this set and so far we are loving it! Highly recommend for anyone looking for a nice set but won't cost a lot
This is my first complete set of cookware. I was leery about buying a non stick set of cookware, having heard that once it gets scratched, it's all over; but, I went ahead because I think easy clean up is a plus. I'm careful not to do anything to scratch these pots and pans. Food just washes right off, just by putting in some warm, soapy water. No more scrubbing and letting them sit to soften before they can be cleaned. Love my purchase, and love Sur La Table for all of my cooking supplies
I absolutely love this set of pots! I have 4 children, and they are plenty large enough for me to feed them all. They're easy to clean, they cook evenly! This is a set I think I will own and use for a very long time
I had been searching for 5 years for a good quality cookware set. I had been handed down a set that was great quality but stainless steal just drove me crazy with food sticking to it. I searched and read reviews actively for the last year till I found this set, it was my Christmas gift to myself : ). I must say I'm in love with it! I love to cook and this set has made my life easier! I love it so much that I continue to buy additional items to complete the set, such as Sur La Table Hard Anodized Nonstick Round Grill Pan, 12"" and Sur La Table Hard Anodized Nonstick Chefs Pan, 4 qt. I highly recommend this. Buy now, I would have save $40 if I had waited to buy but I don't care, its one of my favorit purchases for my kitchen! : ) Happy cookin
I recieved this product as a gift last Christmas and LOVE the pots and pan they are easy to use, clean perfectly and have held up awesome! Then I purchased them as a gift for my sister and her family and they love them too!! Great Product for the Price
I'm impressed with the quality of this set. I have purchased nonstick cookware from other brands that cost a lot more than this, and the quality was nowhere near as good as this. I see that the new version of this set is now dishwasher safe and can be used in higher temperatures in the oven too. Still, this set only cost me just over $100 on sale so I don't mind washing it by hand.
I am been SO pleased with this cookware. We follow a low fat diet and decided on non-stick. It cooks beautifully and cleaning is a snap.......inside and out. I do not turn heat above medium. I have a gas cooktop and stove and have used this cookware on/in both. I use only wood, plastic or silicon utensils and no scratching so far. find the pieces are generous and purchased the additional 3 qt. braiser and 6 quart chef's pan for larger meals. A few caveats, the non-stick surface is not perfect in every piece.......some had a few very minor bumps and have been no problem yet. (I have used the cookware almost nightly since July.) the bigger problem was that the silicon gasket on the underneath side of the lids (the side that faces the food as it cooks) for the stock pot (comes in set), braiser and chef's pan (both sold separate from set) either split and broke or separated from the rivet and glass lid. I was not sure if this would affect the integrity of the lid and make it more vulnerable to breaking/shattering in addition to a gap for food to get trapped and not be properly cleaned. The lids that had the problem were used on the stove top to make soup (not more than medium heat) and oven (not over 350 degrees F). So, I had to fool around with getting replacement lids or replace the entire pan just to get a new lid but, it seems to have been worth the inconvenience as so far the silicon gaskets on the new lids are holding up fine. I would highly recommend this set. I started out with more expensive competitors and from other stores.....I returned them all because they all had flaws or chips to the surface upon taking them out of the box. Maybe I will be brave a choose stainless steel next time but, for now this cookware is great! PS.....I love the feel of the handles.
I used All-clad prior to these and I like these much better. Food doesn't stick at all and they are very easy to clean, not to mention the great look of these. I would highly recommend these to anyone. I love them!
I was really excited about using this set. The first item I pulled out of the box was the small 8 inch skillet. After washing the item, I place the pan on my Thermador gas range top and the pan tipped over because the handle is heavy. I could not believe it! I cannot center the pan on the range top without it tipping over. I want to return the set or have Sur la Table give me a small non stick skillet that doesn't tip over. I did not see that anyone else made this comment. Very disappointing!
Needed a new set of nonstick cookware and this was on sale. I love them and believe they are excellent value for the money. However, I do wish I had purchased the slightly more expensive dishwasher safe set.
I've been looking for a cookware set that will blend somewhat with my calphalon open stock pieces, and these look great! I like to sear meat on the stovetop and finish it off in the oven, so I chose this set because the handles are metal and not plastic/silicone.
It is what I wanted. I like the hard anodized set with nonstick interior. I believe it to be a good purchase price and a set made to sell at a higher price. The customer reviews were favorable. I am an elderly man 86 years old who is the care giver for my invalid wife. I do all our cooking. I enjoy cooking. I look forward to receiving the set.
Can metal utensils be used on these pans or must you use plastic or wood?
A shopper on May 25, 2011
Best Answer:I use wood, silicon, nylon (""plastic""), etc. I no longer use metal utensils for anything so I don't have to think about it. I've still got a few metal ones, but they are stashed away. I find the nylon/plastic ones tend to deteriorate over time; I get cheap ones at a dollar store and replace them after a year or so. Wood gets stained if used for tomatoes, etc. They are also inexpensive to replace. The silicon and bamboo utelsils hold up very well
I have noticed when looking at other sets that many of them say they are oven safe but when you read the ""fine print"" the lids are not. Based on the information on the website I am not seeing anything in regards to the lids

Should we avoid non-stick sprays w this cookware? -Tom, San Dieg
A shopper on Mar 24, 2013
Best Answer:Yes, non stick cooking sprays should be avoided on non stick cookware. As you cook, the spray will work its way into the microscopic pores of the cookware surface and expand, thus creating cracks and chips over time
I have a cramped stove, so the outsides of some of my cookware has been subject to grease/oil spatter. What is the best way to clean the outside of this set

This set was offered for $149 instead of the usual $199 on Cyber Monday. Unfortunately, I forgot to order it then. Do you think there's any chance it will go on sale again before Christmas? Thanks in advance

According to the insert paperwork included with the set you can use the Hard Anodized Cookware on a glass cooktop. Some suggestions for use are do not drag the cookware across the cooktop as it may scratch the cooktop, as any cookware could. You do not want to put a hot pan on a cold cooktop as the drastic contrast in temperature could cause the cooktop to crack. To use the steamer insert you would want to check with the manufacturer of your glass cooktop to see if there is a bridge between the front and back burner. If not this could cause the steamer insert to stick inside the stockpot. Other than these precautions there should be no problem using this cookware with a flat glass cooktop
