Cole & Mason Derwent Salt & Pepper Mills, Stainless Steel
The salt mill’s ceramic grinder offers three settings from fine to course—ensuring the ideal texture every time. The pepper grinder has six settings for everything from a light dusting to crumb-size granules. Rather than simply crushing the peppercorns, an innovative carbon steel mechanism strips them down by their individual layers. As the different flavors within layers are released, they blend to deliver the fully rounded, intense flavor of the peppercorns.
Established in 1919, Cole & Mason is passionate about the art of perfect seasoning, pairing classic styles with modern innovation to help home cooks get the most out of their spices. Mills sold separately.

The Salt is not a stainless grinder, it is ceramic, but still has a lifetime warranty and will grind with popcorn salt finest. On the coarsest setting is crunchy but not too big.
The pepper has a more setting from very fine up to nice and coarse, for things like rolling the rim of burgers in or for steaks.
I will offer anyone looking at mills on sur la tables site the price even though it looks like it is for a set is per mill... Imagine my surprise when I got to the store to buy them.
Over all great set will perform as well as any of the other more expensive mills and look great to boot
My pricey Peugeot mills left salt & pepper reside on the counter after using, but not a problem with the Cole & Mason S & P mills!
These were highly recommended by America's Test Kitchen which is where I go to check reviews on gadgets and culinary supplies.
Affordable and a pleasure to use! Love 'em!
First, the coarseness of the pepper can be easily adjusted by turning a dial on the bottom of the shaker. Unlike most shakers, you don't have to tighten a knob on top and guess for the coarseness.
Second, this seems like the only pepper mill with the easy coarseness adjustment that also has clear sides so you can visually tell when it is getting empty.
The mill is easy to refill. The top just pops off instead of having to unscrew anything. My only complaint could be that the top could be designed to pop off a little easier with a push button release for elderly people with arthritis. But for those without arthritis I think it should be fairly easy to remove.
It also grinds very well and is quite attractive sitting in your kitchen
On the good side the different grinds was excellent
Although I rated it a 5 star product, the stainless steel gets smudges on occasion
Questions & Answers
I use Himalayan Pink salt which comes in bigger pieces than normally purchases sea salt. Will this work with this grinder?
