Good Purchase for a Great Tasting Summer Treat!
After some skepticism and a year of consideration, I recently purchased this ice-cream maker. I read the instructions and my first batch bombed - however, after talking with the sales associate, he recommended that I freeze the freezer bowl upside down and at the back of the freezer - which I did, and the next day my 2nd batch came out perfectly! My husband just made a batch of strawberry gelato which also came out great. We have decided is to keep the freezer bowl in our freezer in order to have the unit available without the need to plan around the overnight freezing requirement

Makesgreatsorbets!
I bought this machine specifically to make sorbet from all of the oranges from our tree. It took only 5 minutes and I had 2 1/2 quarts of sorbet. Great fun!

Whip together great ice cream quickly
I bought this ice cream maker on sale in May. I've used it a handful of times since and always thought two things: how quickly the mix churns into ice cream and ""Should it be making this much noise?"".

The bowl sets up well before the suggested 24 hour period in the freezer, which is handy for next day use. I've also thrown the ""need to refrigerate the mix"" suggestion out and made it with refrigerated ingredients - it still comes together in 30 minutes or less.

Then comes the downside: I had romantic visions of secretly whipping up ice cream during a dinner party to surprise guests. The noise from this machine (a growl to a low roar) can be heard well past the kitchen, extinguishing my plans.

Verdict: For the price, it is a functional and timely ice cream maker. I highly recommend it

Very Simple
Excellent ice cream comes from this great kitchen gadget. Easy to use - must prep ingredients first, however. Have used it several times and even purchased a 2nd one! Needed another bowl anyways - so it's handy to have 2 makers on hand at once, especially if we'd like 2 different flavors

Yum!
This is such a fun machine. It's great to be able to tweak your ice cream flavors and create your own. It says it makes ice cream in 20 minutes, but it's not at all firm. It's about the consistency of heavily stirred ice cream, so I make it a few hours ahead of time so it firms up.

I consider it a good investment, but I think the ""$110 value"" is a bit much. I think the $59.95 is an appropriate price point

Fun addition to kitchen
I bought this machine after seeing it in use in one of the cooking classes I attended. I had been reluctant to buy an ice cream maker because of needing salt etc. This little machine is the best. It truly does make great tasting ice cream in 30 minutes or less. The consistency is similar to soft serve, but if you place it in the freezer for a short while you have real ice cream texture.

It is a bit on the noisy side, but that doesn't bother me. I would describe it as a hum

Great for Low Carbing!
Sometimes we need a sweet something too in low carbing this is definitely one of the better ice cream makers I have owned. It has stood up to heavy cream mixtures without the ""bucking"" other ice cream makers have done. I did find it best to also let the paddle get cold too. I didn't freeze it just keep it in the fridge.
It has also been great for creating custards that are not hard frozen

No Regrets Purchase
I love this machine! You can so easily make your own custom flavors of delicious ice cream in 15-20 minutes of machine time depending upon the ingredients you add to your recipe i.e. fresh fruit adds 5 minutes. It produces soft serve ice cream, but an hour or two in the freezer firms it up if you prefer that. This is so easy I've made so many batches in the two weeks I've owned it that I've already gotten my money out of it.

OMG - how easy/delicious!
I don't even like ice cream but the salted caramel vanilla is what I make & serve for every dinner party and my guests go crazy for it. It's very easy and at a good price!

please explain how the cuisineart work in detail
A shopper on Mar 25, 2011
BEST ANSWER: you make the ice cream or sorbet base, and pour it in, turn it on and let it churn. the maker comes with several recipes, they are also easy to find online. SLT also sells a book ""the perfect scoop"" which is chock-full of great ice cream and sorbet recipe
I love this ice cream maker use it all the time and tonight I dropped the top compartment( the plastic cracked) and it smashed and has a huge chunk out of the top.........can this part be replaced, or is it just better to get another one? I am so upset I use this weekly.
A shopper on May 18, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Check out cuisinart webstore
Can the Cuisinart ice cream maker be used to make Gelato
A shopper on Apr 23, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I would say you can since I am able to make heavy custards in it. You have to freeze the gelato in a container after 30 minutes of mixing though. The freezing container is not powered just frozen and only keeps its freeze about 30.
Your picture shows several bright colors--are more colors available than white and pomegrante?
A shopper on Feb 23, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Although we did carry this ice cream maker in several bright colors, all that is available at this time is white and pomegranate, as the others have been discontinued
I try to avoid dairy. Are there recipes for coconut or almond milk?
David S on May 14, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I use almond milk all the time, have a dairy allergy.......if you use one with a higher fat content the result, will be creamier, if not just churn it, ( I put a small freezer lunch bag over the hole in the top of the upper part of the unit, to keep it colder, ) , and then after you think it is about as cold and hard ( not likely it will still be soft) as it will get, ( 25-30 min) scoop it out and put in a freezable container for an hour and then serve it then, if longer, it will get hard, you might even have to take it out prior to dessert, and let it soften a bit. It will be worth the effort. I made coconut ice cream tonight, made dark chocolate last night, had a dinner party, ( both of these made with coconut milk) served it with toasted coconut, fresh pineapple chunks, and drizzle of dark chocolate............omg, big hit, like a mounds bar with pineapple.....delish and the guests gave me a round of applause!! go for it!!
Does this come with a cookbook of ice cream recipes?
A shopper on Jun 17, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It comes with a small recipe booklet - instruction booklet with several recipes. It's a great way to try out your new purchase but I would recommend investing in a few good specialty books for a wider variety.
Is the paddle suppose to move?
A shopper on Jun 29, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The paddle remains in place while the bowl rotates. Good luck! I'm making peach sorbet tonite. Enjoy this terrific product.
What are the dimensions of the bowl that must be put in the freezer? I have a very small freezer! Otherwise it sounds great.
A shopper on May 19, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I think it's 9 inches. I have a small freezer too and it fits easily,
I have lost my receipt book for the Cuisinart ice cream maker model #699645. Any chance I can get one?
A shopper on Mar 23, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The recipes are also on their website and there are hundreds of great recipes on other sites. Right sizing them for the container takes a little finagling - I make one that is 2 cups liquid (1.5 half/half+1/2 C cream) and four egg yolks, 1/2 C sugar and it fits well.
Can I purchase an extra red freezer bowl?
A shopper on May 30, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, you can purchase another red bowl from Ereplacementparts.
Red freezer bowl is part number ICE-RFBR. Cost is $34.20. You could also try calling Cuisinart customer service. I hope this helps. Sur web site will not let me give you any phone numbers, sorry

Is the freezing bowl itself dishwasher safe?
A shopper on May 27, 2012
BEST ANSWER: No, Cuisinart does not recommend the freezing bowl be placed in the dishwasher. After using the machine, allow the freezing bowl to warm to room temperature, then clean with mild soap and warm water. Allow to air dry or towel dry and place back in your freezer for storage. Once frozen, it will be ready to use next time you decide to make homemade ice cream
How loud is it when it's processing?
A shopper on May 26, 2011
BEST ANSWER: About the same noise level as a food processor. I just put mine in the dining room while we're eating dinner so it's ready when we're done!
