Get a knife
I am a fan of gadgetry in the kitchen but this one did not impress me. Another thing to wash with serveral, sharp parts is not my deal. I want to eat not clean! If not applied tightly, the blades will bust off as you turn this so-called mill that does not chop evenly. Large pieces, small pieces, and makes your rosemary turn grey. Stick with a knife and more space in the gadget drawer

attractive looking but...
I love kitchen stuff, but this was a waste of $$$. The blades mash up the herbs, the chopped pieces are all diffrent sizes...the blades are hard to get out and then reassemble. I have better results with a scissors or knife

Use Herbs with Ease
Like all Microplane products, this Herb Mill is amazingly effective.

I added parsley, rosemary, thyme, oregano and sage to the mill and with a simple twist (like I was using a pepper mill), I was able to season my roast chicken.

I've added fresh herbs to omelettes, vegetables and salads and now use all the herbs that I purchase weekly at the Farmer's Market.

Clean up is a breeze - just three pieces to rinse and have ready to use for the next fresh batch of herbs. Everything tastes better with fresh herbs!

It's a thing of beauty

Dissapointed Sur La Table Fan
Way below usual SLT standard. Looks cute in the kitchen but overpriced for under performance. Herbs must be dried to chop. Fresh herbs contain too much moisture and produce herb mush no matter how carefully prepared. Difficult to clean. Use the scissors and save time.

Good but not great
I had high hopes for this device. It works ok but is hard to load and does mash up some herbs. But....I will never cut myself chopping herbs.

Looks good, but...
Loved the idea of the ease of chopping herbs quickly and without a mess. However, I found that it does not handle fresh herbs very well, often making them mushy. Difficult to put back together after cleaning. The top of mine actually got stuck and I took it to my local Sur la Table to see if they could replace it with a new herb mill, but since it was over 60 days and I had no receipt (it was a Christmas gift), they could do nothing. I am disappointed not only in the quality of this product but also in the return/ exchange policy.

Can this mill be used for nuts, such as almond, walnuts, and sesames?
A shopper on Jan 19, 2015
Best Answer: I have never used it for these things, but I would say not. The blades aren't strong enough for harder items like nuts. Sesame seeds will just fll right through it.
